Well, if your outside in -20 weather, as my grandfather once told me as a little boy "It doesn't take brains to freeze". Only idiots go outside when it's -20. When you're inside, it doesn't matter if it's 20 above or 20 below. :)

Lol! I like that. I got two of those cheap Valentine cards...the kind kids get for everyone in their class. One was from my RA and the other was a girl from my church group. Nothing says you love someone like signing your name to a mass-produced 5 cent Valentine card.

'Sweetest Day' is the 3rd Saturday in October.

Umm, I beg to differ. 'Sweetest Day' is not a holiday. I have no problem with giving flowers, dinner, and candy on Valentine's day, assuming I like her, but 'Sweetist Day' doesn't exist!! LOL

I am between Cleveland & Akron. I kayak in cuyahoga, Lake Erie, many marshes, West branch etc..

Bike between 2-3,000 miles/year

I used to live in Toledo, though I didn't buy my kayak until I lived in N CA for a summer. I paddled lots on Superior when I was going to Michigan Tech. Excellent kayaking there! Erie would be fun, especially when the winds pick up! What type of kayak do you have?

Although Romantic love might be the underlying (and of course commercial) reason for Valentine's day.. the theme of Love is universal & a great time to maybe for THIS year have your mom/dad.... grandpa/ma... aunt/uncle .. for your valentine. Take them out to dinner/movie... tell them that since this year as you are w/o significant other you would like them to fill the roll.. bet you have one of the best days of the month.

Good day to go to nursing homes, Veteran's Admin facilities & visit...

It is so self defeating to be lonely & it is an option.. not a fate.. It is one's choice to be alone or with others. And it is truly better (more blessed) to be doing for someone else rather than always be getting.

White Oak is not far from here( probably 15 min. or less).West Chester is even closer.I am near or in WC quite a lot, and would like to move there.

But since my script got rejected AGAIN, I guess that will have to wait.

I read this little story on Sweetest Day...only Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin celebrate it. How odd. It's kinda like Valentine's Day part deux, but not. It was supposed to be for the "underprivileged and forgotten" but quickly morphed into another lover's day. Hmmm.....

Right now I have a preception & Old town swifty type. I have an English fiberglass MarkII - that I don't use. I gave my son a couple of longer ones.

I use the shorter ones as I can get two inside my van(I took out all of back seats)..they aren't fast but they are more stable. I take dogs always kayaking & although they run the shore & swim a lot, there are times they get tired or I don't want them loose for one reason or another on part of trip (ranger/tickets a biggie)
