A photograph of a Westchester pond taken by Edward Steichen sold for more a record $2.9 million dollars -- setting a world record for the highest-priced photograph ever auctioned.
It was initially reported that the photo, titled ``The Pond-Moonlight,'' was taken on Long Island, but the 1904 photo was actually taken in Mamaroneck, which is in Westchester County.
Sotheby's auction house said the photo of a pond in a wooded area with light coming through the trees and reflected in the water sold for $2,928,000, including the buyer's premium.
The previous record for a photograph sold at auction, $1,248,000 dollars was set in November by Richard Prince's ``Untitled (Cowboy).''
