Speaking about "covering it", that's what's happening on pit road now.
Rain's getting a little harder. Looks like its coming up from the south.....

If one of the Duels doesn't finish between about 3:25 and 4 Central (I have to pick up my niece and nephew from school), I'll let you know who's in and who's out.

I won't be too upset if it's postponed for 3 hours and 20 mins. (just enough time for me to hurry home).

That's ugly. What's uglier is the NWS radar, which shows a line of showers that extend south of Melbourne. They might not get the races or the Truck qualifying (scheduled for 6:30 Eastern).

Lots of chatter here on TNT about the bump-drafting advisories....looks like this will be the topic-de-weekend.
One of the problems with the sanctioned bump-draft was just quietly demonstrated on a replay from last Sunday's Shootout.
Shrub goes into the back of JJ two firm and stong times on the backstraight. Second time, JJ's car lifts a bit at the rear. #5 then tries to get one more BD in before the entrance to T3, but its bad judgement and too late--JJ lifts a little. After the third light tapper, Shrub's car falls off and Smoke's #20 goes right into Shrub's rear bumper.
There's yer big one, avoided.

Just talked to family members in Titusville, which is about 50 miles south of Daytona. Rain was falling hard down that way.

Guess I can get the driveway and sidewalk done.
Check that; my radar is showing more snow coming up from Rockford right along I-43.

Did you take this out of the IRS tax code?
Rain stopped and the dryers are on the track...

Rain stopped and the dryers are on the track...Looks like a weather hole opening up.....I see the drivers are squinting their eyes a bit more as the sun pops out.
Covers coming off.....best estimate is 15 minutes to cars on course.

I used to pour my beer into pepsi cans on the drive home from the river :(

Just what I DIDN'T want to hear.
Of course, they're uncovering the cars, with a modest promise from TNT that they could be racing in 15 minutes. Judging by the radar though, the next round of rain is less than 45 minutes out.

Hopefully it didn't take a cop or an accident to make you change that practice.
Here comes the sun.

Really dark skies looking to the south background while the driver interviews go on.
Someone just said #8 car changed an engine and will be starting at the back?? Did I get that right?
To: flutters
There is a last-second change in the Duels lineup; Terry Labonte will be driving the HOF #96 Texas Instruments DLP Chevy in the SECOND Duel, not the first.
