Seattle coach laments having to ‘take on the guys in the striped shirts, too

DETROIT - No appreciation or consolation in Seattle for the Seahawks, at least not yet.

Nope, they were still stuck in frustration.

The post-Super Bowl parties went into early Monday morning as the Seahawks at least tried to celebrate their season, instead of their somber Sunday. Later, coach Mike Holmgren tried to refocus the team, momentarily, on what it had done and what it still may do.

(Snip) –

And the Seahawks were still stinging from a few officials’ calls that went against them, such as Darrell Jackson’s touchdown catch that was taken away by a penalty and a disputed TD run by Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger.

“We knew it was going to be tough going up against the Pittsburgh Steelers,” Holmgren told the fans at Qwest Field. “I didn’t know we were going to have to play the guys in the striped shirts as well.”

But it is the losing coach's job to find and congratulate the winning coach.

He would've I am sure but the head ref was gone too fast to shake hands.

maybe im just jaded..hehe.

It just didn't seem like a really great game.
But I guess it was better than 55-10.
The first half actually bored me...but I guess I'd rather have that then have the game over by halftime.

I'm just amazed that Seattle folks scream "We wuz robbed!" And Stealer folks scream "We dominated!" I saw two fairly average teams, but one ended up with more points after 60 minutes....

The only thing I'll remember about the game is that Pittsburgh played up to its abilty,

Really? Roethlisberger is really a 22.26 rated quarterback?

That's what I've always thought.

Pittsburgh, not Roethlisberger. The rest of the team overcame one player's poor performance.

And yet, Roethlisberger got the first downs when they needed them, didn't he?

And, the jerk couldn't manage to find coach Cowher in the middle of the field after the game.

That's the worse thing....after the Trauma Cowher has been through to get a ring!

The only thing I'll remember about the game is that Pittsburgh played up to its ability ---- wrong. Pittsburgh was not at their best. Seattle, though, most likely had a lot to do with that. They're very good and Hasselbeck is going to get even better.

And Seattle did get homered by the refs ----- ..... and Hillary is likable

Yes, because we are talking sports, not politics, totally different ball of wax. If it is only sour grapes Seahawks fans who think the game stunk and the refs were awful, explain exactly why you think there are more Seahawk fans than Steeler fans in 48 of the 50 states. LOL, in New Hampshire?

But it is the losing coach's job to find and congratulate the winning coach.

That's another Steeler homer myth.

How about dem Penguins?

Math is math. Non-scientific webpolls have no predictive value. Any correlation to reality is coincidence.

That all being said the refs were horrible, but that is not the Steelers fault. That hit by Hasselback was a great tackle, and NOT CLIPPING

I guess you don't know the rule on that. That's understandable, I didn't really either until about a month ago.

There still is a great segment of "writers and talk show hosts" as you like to hold up as authorities, who think Dan Rather was right and the documents were real.

Sports talk show hosts?

I didn't know they even commented on Dan Rather.

Though it wasn't the Steelers' fault, the ref's stunk, and plenty outside of just Seattle fans noticed. Understand?

What's so hard for the Steeler apologists to just admit the ref's were bad and then enjoy your championship?

I watched Pittsburgh play many times this year, and facing what I believe was the best team in the NFL this year (Seattle), they outplayed AND outcoached the Seahawks.

How did your home NFL team do this year? Who was it?

You don't even have a dog in this fight. Just a big, big mouth that you keep shooting off like a jerk.

Well, I'm not a diehard Steelers fan. I only rooted for them because they're a legendary team like the Packers here in Green Bay.

I just wish Seattle fans would stop blaming the refs. The refs are what makes the games intriguing. I said it a thousand times - if officiating were automated or reviewed by computers after every play, it'll get boring real fast.
