Holmgren Takes Shot at Super Bowl Officiating (Steelers/Superbowl)

Seattle coach laments having to ‘take on the guys in the striped shirts, too

DETROIT - No appreciation or consolation in Seattle for the Seahawks, at least not yet.

Nope, they were still stuck in frustration.

The post-Super Bowl parties went into early Monday morning as the Seahawks at least tried to celebrate their season, instead of their somber Sunday. Later, coach Mike Holmgren tried to refocus the team, momentarily, on what it had done and what it still may do.

(Snip) –

And the Seahawks were still stinging from a few officials’ calls that went against them, such as Darrell Jackson’s touchdown catch that was taken away by a penalty and a disputed TD run by Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger.

“We knew it was going to be tough going up against the Pittsburgh Steelers,” Holmgren told the fans at Qwest Field. “I didn’t know we were going to have to play the guys in the striped shirts as well.”

And they all play/played for a team called the "Foxes."
I love it. :)

Me too.
Of course, since I'm class of '70, I'm a little too old for those gals.

:(

Wrong side of Swissvale. I grew up in Swisshelm Park, which is on the Squirrel Hill side of Swissvale. I used to spend a lot of time over there... still make the trip to the Triangle to get an italian or roast beef Battleship every so often (best damned sammich around...3 feet long and loaded with meat and cheese).

My family lived in Swissvale for generations, on Harrison Avenue, Blackhawk Street, Denniston... my wife and I still have family there.

So your daughter resides there (WPSD)? It is a great school. Nice grounds, too. I thought that was in Edgewood though, on SAwissvale Avenue.

You get off the Turnpike in Monroeville and 376 is known as the Parkway East (there is also a Parkway West...but that is on the otherside of town). As the crow flies, when you are in that part of town you are not that far from Kennywood Park...I would guess the WPSD has a 'day' (school picnic) there. You will have a blast!!! I'll hafta FReep mail ya...

I've only been in PA a year and she's a residential student which means she comes home on weekends - so we've only been here a year. We're out in Mechanicsburg. You are right I am sure - the address is Swissvale Ave and the borough is Edgewood. I like the city of Pittsburgh too - I want to see the strip district. When i go out there I stay at the school or Monroeville.

Small world in deed. Met my wife in college. Found out that my father grew up across the street from her mother on Harrison Avenue. Our families were even neighbors up near Butler PA in 1800! My paternal great-grandfather lost his hand in an industrial accident at the old Union Switch and Signal Plant (now the site of Edgewood Towne Centre). One of the blacksmiths there fashioned a hook for him. The blacksmith was my maternal great grandfather.

Kennywoods a lot of fun and so is Sandcastle. Try to get there in the summer. Waterfront in Homestead is pretty good too. Great restaurants... best burger I ever had was at Red Robin in the Waterfront, directly beneath the Homestead Highlevel Bridge. Lost of fun stuff to do around here.

Plan a weekend in the spring, and take your younger daughter to a Pirate game (PNC Park is absolutely beautiful). Eat in the Strip District before or after the game. Now, your older girl will probably love Station Square and the South Side Flats for the clubs and shopping!!!:)

Yep. Swimmin' ain't too good in the winter. ;-)

They're working on the bridge and it's going to be lane restricted for the foreseeable future. So you might want to leave early!
