Seattle coach laments having to ‘take on the guys in the striped shirts, too
DETROIT - No appreciation or consolation in Seattle for the Seahawks, at least not yet.
Nope, they were still stuck in frustration.
The post-Super Bowl parties went into early Monday morning as the Seahawks at least tried to celebrate their season, instead of their somber Sunday. Later, coach Mike Holmgren tried to refocus the team, momentarily, on what it had done and what it still may do.

And the Seahawks were still stinging from a few officials’ calls that went against them, such as Darrell Jackson’s touchdown catch that was taken away by a penalty and a disputed TD run by Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger.
“We knew it was going to be tough going up against the Pittsburgh Steelers,” Holmgren told the fans at Qwest Field. “I didn’t know we were going to have to play the guys in the striped shirts as well.”

Now, those Steeler-Cowboy SBs were GREAT games. Last night looked like a preseason game in comparison to those.
I think thatthe Seahawks did get jobbed by the refs, but, as a coach Holmgren lost control of his team and his clock management stunk!

You are the one with the attituide problem. How many times, on how many theads since the Super Bowl, have you said or implied that the only reason the Steelers won the game was because the officials won the game for them?

I'm willing to learn. What's the rule! If that was illegal then the Seahawks have nay little to stand on for there whining. I point to the catch, hit, dropping of the ball that was ruled an incomplete pass even though he had control of the ball, as another blatent ref issue besides that. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the game, and the whiners are really bothersome, but I am a little worried about the refs these days.
The officiating was crappy, and the play was as bad as the officiating.
Wonder why? Maybe it's because you're such a gracious winner. Yeah. That's got to be it.

You're acting like a liberal fool holding this question up as proof that the officiating was wrong and ruined the game!
The question only asked if people thought officiating affected the outcome of the game. Officiating affects every game! (By the way, games are affected just as much by the calls made as the calls NOT made.)
By the way, I wouldn't have cared if the poll showed 80% thought the officiating was bad and wrong. Most viewers are ignorant of the rules. You probably think Roethlisberger didn't score that TD. There are posts on another thread that CLEARLY show the ball directly over the goal line. And, the receiver for Seattle was just foolish enough to do his slight pushing off in the endzone RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE OFFICIAL. The official had to call it. If he had done the same thing out around midfield he might have gotten away with the slight foul. But in the endzone, the official had to call it.
You just do not know football real well, and your reasoning concerning that poll is real defective.

Ref in controversy (Pitt-Indy game) has house vandalized
NFL referee Pete Morelli is having a rough week.
On Sunday, Morelli made one of the more controversial calls in NFL history, overturning what appeared to be an interception by the Steelers' Troy Polamalu. On Monday, his Stockton, Calif. home was vandalized, according to police reports.
Lieutenant Thomas Wells of the Stockton Police Department told FOXSports.com's Jay Glazer that a police report was filed after a rock was thrown through Morelli's living room window late Monday night after Morelli and his wife had gone to bed. Lt. Wells emphasized that police had no suspect and no motive in the case and could not say with any degree of certainty whether the act of vandalism was related to Sunday's call.
"We are aware of the situation and we're cooperating with police in any way we can," said NFL spokesman Greg Aiello.
On Monday, the NFL admitted that Morelli had erred when he used instant replay to overturn the interception. Mike Pereira, the league's VP of officiating, said in a statement that the call on the field should have stood.
"He maintained possession long enough to establish a catch," Pereira said. "Therefore, the replay review should have upheld the call on the field that it was a catch and fumble."
Fortunately for Morelli — and the Steelers — while the botched call allowed the Colts to eventually pull within a field goal, it ultimately did not play any role in the outcome of the game, which Pittsburgh won, 21-18.
