Seattle coach laments having to ‘take on the guys in the striped shirts, too

DETROIT - No appreciation or consolation in Seattle for the Seahawks, at least not yet.

Nope, they were still stuck in frustration.

The post-Super Bowl parties went into early Monday morning as the Seahawks at least tried to celebrate their season, instead of their somber Sunday. Later, coach Mike Holmgren tried to refocus the team, momentarily, on what it had done and what it still may do.

(Snip) –

And the Seahawks were still stinging from a few officials’ calls that went against them, such as Darrell Jackson’s touchdown catch that was taken away by a penalty and a disputed TD run by Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger.

“We knew it was going to be tough going up against the Pittsburgh Steelers,” Holmgren told the fans at Qwest Field. “I didn’t know we were going to have to play the guys in the striped shirts as well.”

Maybe coach could point some other things out to us:
---Why did your time management at the end of the half force your kicker ot attempt a 54-yard field goal?
---Why the MVP of the league didn't see the ball much when you did get into the red zone? How many TD's did he have during the season???
---Why Darrell Jackson didn't see the ball again(but once)after the 1st qtr??
---Finally coach, why were you totally shocked that Pitts. had the nerve to run a gadget play??Maybe you forgot Randall El WAS a college QB. And how open was Hines Ward on that play???

I won't question Holmgren's amount of class. But look at the total picture and the "crap" calls were not the only reason Seattle lost.

And yet, Roethlisberger got the first downs when they needed them, didn't he

After the first 20 minutes of the game, when he couldn't find his ass with both hands.

The game was a complete discrace.

Oh yeh. "discraces" are real bad.

Wishful thinking. For the poll to be off there would have to be more Seahawk fans than Steeler fans in 48 of the 50 states (poll logged independent IP addresses.) You really want to claim that?

It's good to see a man of Holmgren's stature stand up and tell it like is for once.

Dan Rather and the fake documents.

Why don't you stop saying that the officials won the game for the Steelers and stop trying to take the joy out of the Steelers win for us. See post #80 again, jerk!

How did your home NFL team do this year? Who was it?

The Cowboys. They folded up like a cheap suit in December.

But, they got their five rings ten years before the Steelers did. Imagine, Cowher got outcoached in 1995 by Barry friggin' Switzer!

A: Texans, Saints, Browns, Jaguars, Cardinals & Lions.

Q: Who are 6 NFL Teams that have never gotten to the Super Bowl and would have a chance with Ben Roethlisberger, a decent defense and a modest running game.

First, I never claimed anything was limited to Seahawk fans.

Second, and more important, is that the cited poll predicts the opinion of those who took part, and nothing else.

Few are claiming that they were.

I forgot the quarter, but Seattle caught a pass, then fumbled and the Side Judge ruled incomplete. Pitt would have recovered the fumble had the whistle not blown.

Yes it was to Steven over the middle. He caught it for sure, then turned and stepped to go forward, then was popped. A sure fumble denied.

Roethlisberger is a middlin' quarterback. Those six teams need a superstar.

OUR head coach said THERE IS NO CONSPIRACY, THAT'S RIDICULOUS. Holmgren shrunk himself ten times compared to Bill Cowher. ----

******

Right.

I never did. Why don't you search my posting history for today to see what I actually thought about the game and the Steelers' playoff run, instead of jumping to conclusions and going bezerk.

Everyone who watched the game knows the officating was bad, and favored the Steelers big time.

The only question is WHY?

Im not a fan of professional football...I'm a Chiefs fan...hehe.

As a Chiefs fan, I've become an expert in mediocrity, and what I saw on display Sunday was not the type of play that puts the 2006 Steelers in the same league with the 70s Steelers, or the Old Niners or Old Cowboys.
I dare say the Seahawks play was so unremarkable that there is nothing to really to compare them too.

That said, the Steelers beat the 'Hawks. The refs sucked, but that's no excuse for what I saw out of the Seahawks. I'll be real surprised to see how each team rebounds....If either team makes a run next year then I'll be a believer.

( I know the Steelers fans will tell me that they have been knocking on the door for several years, but I'm still not convinced that this Steelers team measures up to the old Bradshaw/Swann/Stallworth/Steel Curtain guys....maybe they'll prove me wrong next year.)
