Best Live Albums
Millee | 2/6/06 | Millee

If you can't be there in person then sometimes the "Live Album" can be the next best thing.

Following are a few of my favorites, in no particular order. Please share some of your own!

1.
Great upbeat album. The crowds enthusiasm is infectious!

2.
This album reminds me of spying on my parents parties when they would break of this record and dance in our living room.

3.
"I killed a man just to watch him die" - Great audience response! ;o)

4.
"The King Must Die" and "Have Mercy on the Criminal" are superb!

5.
(Hand over ears) I don't care what you say - lalalalalalala - I like it! :op

Here are my "Live" choices:

The live side of "Flowers of Evil" by Mountain

"Happy Trails" by Quicksilver Messenger Service

The live part of "Eat a Peach" by the Allman Brothers Band

"Live at the Fillmore East" by the Allman Brothers Band

"Live Rust" by Neil Young

"Live at Leeds" by the Who

"Live at the Boston Tea Party", disks 1, 2 and 3 by Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac

The worst is when a singer is singing a song he/she sang 20 years ago, and they can't hit the high notes like they used to, due to drinking, smoking, and aging.

I saw Poison with Warrant back in about 2001. Poison was great. Poison is one band that was never innovative, or super-talented, but they sure know how to put on a live show, and for straight up fun, they're good. Bret Michaels sounds as good now as he did back in the late 80s.

Warrant sucked. Jani Lane can not sing like he used to at all. It's nothing personal, actually I've met the guy (he's from my hometown) and he's a nice guy.

And he and Bret Michaels are about the same age, but apparently, Bret has taken much better care of himself and his voice.

Didn't know that!

I know something about her brother being in a band and someone hearing her sing as a very young girl --- she has a gorgeous voice!

I'll forgive just about any lyrics if the voice is pretty...

Which is probably why I listen to the music that I do ;)

Barry Manilow sold a heck of a lot of albums to a heck of a lot of people. Not my cup of tea, but I sure won't knock you or anyone else for liking him and his music.

People are probably looking at my list and wondering where the heck it came from. LOL on that!

Oh, I have to add the live part of Pink Floyd's Ummagumma to my list.

Most of the studio album was strictly for tripping, but the live album was brilliant. Just freaking brilliant.

And he won a few Super Bowls with the 49ers. :)

Good choice. My best friend turned me on to that album when I was 16. I went out and bought the 8-track, and listened to it over, and over, and over and......

I was thinking I was glad I wasn't there when Johnny Cash performed his "Folsom Prison" album, but I think I'm even more glad I didn't catch this live performance! ;o)

Being a Jersey Girl, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes have always been a favorite of mine. I've probably seen them in concert 20-30 times.

They have plenty of live albums - my favorite... Reach up and touch the sky!
