A lot of live recordings sound rough, but Alison Krauss and Union Station's live album is about as close to perfection as musicians can get.

re #4 -- that's not even Elton's best Live album. Yeah, it's nice to hear "Madman" and "Criminal" live, but that's the album that almost turned me off "Tiny Dancer" and "Tonight" (I heard the live LP before the original versions). Have you heard the remastered "Here and There?" It features two complete shows on two CDs, including Elton's duets with John Lennon.

However, my favorite Elton live LP would have to be 11-17-70. Just Elton, Dee, and Nigel pounding away in obscurity. Plus, they manage to drag out "Burn Down the Mission" for 20 minutes or so.

Oh, my other favorite live albums are "Wings Over America," "Live Cream Vol. 2," "Brian Wilson Live at the Roxy," and "Queen Live at the Bowl." I'd include Pink Floyd at Boston Garden 1975, but that's an audience recording...

I haven't heard the remastered Here and There, but I have that on vinyl (I'm so old!) ;o) But, I liked 'Tonight' on the Melbourne album and I've always been luke warm on Tiny Dancer anyway. I used to have the Live in Central Park(?) video, but I lost it. Sniff..sniff...
