An award-winning new movie seeks to convey the "terrible truth behind partial-birth abortion.
"A Distant Thunder, now available on DVD, was written and directed by Jonathan Flora, a producer for Disney. His wife Deborah plays the lead role of Ann Brown.
Brown is a pro-choice attorney serving as the prosecutor in a murder case involving an unborn child. While preparing for the trial, she feels threatened by mysterious men and suffers from repeated nightmares.
At the trial, the main witness is a woman who had undergone a partial-birth abortion.
"The story is resolved in a surprise ending that makes a powerful pro-life case, according to World magazine.
Partial-birth abortion is a procedure in which a doctor partially delivers a baby, then punctures its skull and removes its brain before completing the delivery.
"We created this film in what many of those in the pro-life movement consider the belly of the beast Hollywood, Deborah Flora said in a statement.
"God knows it wasnt made to further our careers or make money. We made it so that through our craft, a terrible truth could be told so lives could be saved.
The idea for the 35-minute movie came when the Floras has difficulty conceiving a child. Research into infertility led Jonathan to the issue of partial-birth abortion.
"My wife and I were praying so hard to have children, and yet were aborting 40,000 children a year, he told World.
"Im amazed at the number of people who have no idea what partial-birth abortion is.
Since its release, "A Distant Thunder has appeared at several film festivals, including the International Family Film Festival, where it won finalist for best short film.
Congress passed and President Bush signed into law a ban on partial-birth abortions in 2003, but it has been overturned in court and awaits possible review by the Supreme Court.
Me, too. Saw Silent Scream several years ago and it changed my life. I don't need to see it again in more detail. I may not be able to contain my anger at the deliberate shedding of innocent, defenseless human blood. The Party of Abortion needs to be out of power permanently.
I hear ya!
Thanks!! Just ordered 5 copies.
I hate to break it to him, but it's WAY more than that.
I didn't notice that until you pointed it out. I think the number is more like 40,000 a month (possibly more).
True, but whatever it takes...perhaps their movie will wake up others to reality.
Is that maybe 40,000 second or third trimester abortions a year? Or maybe "just" California's numbers? I really don't know, but I am glad that a number spurred someone in Hollywood to do something.
Thanks. Sounds like they're backordered.
Got my copies of this film today - it is really good - a little fast-moving - but gets the point across.
I have an order in but it was backordered, I think I will be getting it next month.
I called the company on Monday and inquired about my order. They checked the warehouse and said it was in, and it arrived today.
