Pit Bulls.
The Dog Of Peace.
Well, well, well, here we are again:

That certainly leads ME to believe the dog was well-behaved. Sheesh. Prayers for the poor girl.
Sounds like a stereotypical pit bull owner.
May God aid the little one in her recovery.
Shoot the dog and jail the owner.
I own a Pit Bull and he is a very nice well-behaves dog. I realize that there are instances were the breed has attacked people, but that should not be used to condemn the entire breed. It is usually the result ofpoor training and irresponsible ownership. Any type of dof can attack a child. Large dog breeds do the most damage. The media sensationalizes Pit Bull attacks and ignores the story when another type of dog is involved in a vicious attack. The media also reports Pit Bull attacks when it is actually other breeds. This happened in San Francisco when the woman was mauled to death by another breed of dog. This is bs media sensationlism. How many kids were harmed from violence, drugs, and other real problems today.
What a sweet smile! I'm praying for her recovery so she can smile brightly some more.
I grew up around these dogs years back there were no problems they were pets and the only dog that could hang out with us we were pretty rough on them even in the little rascals was one I guess the nut-cases have bred them too close and destroyed the breed now like a red nose ?? I never saw one before..
i think pit bulls were originally bred as fighting dogs to fight in pits.
what traits would you select for, if you were breeding fighting dogs?
there is nothing more wrong with pit bulls than with wolves or wolf dogs or any other fierce animals. the problems come when they are in proximity to humans, especially kids.
the other problems are bad training and idiot owners, such as the one in the story.
many other types of dog are dangerous when it comes to children. however, some breeds are clearly more dangerous than others--it isn't just media hype.
With so many breeds , does anyone really need a pit bull? With the reputation they have , why would anyone want one? Are they trying to frighten or intimidate their neighbors?
I believe they are.
I have been told, repeatedly, that events like this are rare.
Once again the dog is blamed when the owner is at fault.
Prayers have been sent for little Destiny. May God be merciful and heal her completely of any physical or emotional scars that may come from this attack. If you can, please keep us updated on her condition. Thanks!
Robinson then spit on the reporter as a cameraman taped the incident, and she responded, "that's why."
Can't tell who's worse the dog or owner. Sounds like they're both ready to blow at all times.
Warm fuzzies ping.
GEE! Not like there's any precedent for this or anything.
On my way up the street, a family was getting in/out of a car, with the family Rottweiler in attendance. I walked past, the dog looked at me suspiciously, but people were around so I went on.
I was not able to get even close to the end of this dead-end canyon-country lane because of at least half a dozen barking dogs of various breeds, including what looked like one pit bull, loose on the street about 100 yards up. I decided to turn around and head back to the main road. I did. I walked back past the place where I saw the rottweiler. It was still there in the street; the family was nowhere to be seen. I walked past the rottweiler, and it growled at me. I felt mentally petrified, but kept walking. I did not at any time look at the dog or acknowledge its presence. I walked on the side of the street farthest from its territory.
Within a few seconds after the dog had growled, I heard rustling in the hills next to the house and saw a pit bull aggressively heading down into the street to my right, as if in pack-behavior response to the growl of the rottweiler. I felt like I was being stalked, as if any minute the two dogs would take me down. They could have; if they had, I would have stood no chance in spite of the fact that there were people around outside visiting each other (it was a sunny Sunday afternoon) who may or may not have owned the dogs; there's no way they could have called them off. My heart lurched around in my chest like a leaping bullfrog on a tether, but I continued walking calmly down the street and away from the dogs. I never looking at them nor acknowledged their presence. I pretended I didn't know they were there. I am convinced that if I had turned and looked at either of them, they would have jumped me.
Now, here's the point. These dogs could easily have killed me right then and there. People who own these creatures are putting ME in danger and infringing on MY freedoms, as they are on YOU and YOURS. I don't know what the solution is -- I really don't even agree with the law that dogs should always be on leashes; our neighbors up the street have a couple of dogs they let run loose (a spaniel and a sweet little mutt) and I'd hate to see them always confined to leashes. As a rule I don't like the old "there oughta be a law" response. But SOMETHING has to be done about Rottweilers and pit bulls because unlike spaniels and little mutts, they are DEADLY and DEADLY UNPREDICTABLE. Either outlaw those dogs, or have crippling fines and JAIL TIME for owners whose dogs are at any time, for any reason, loose on public property.
Typically dumb statement. What in the world could a three year old do to provoke an attack like that? I have had lots of labs and sheperds and there is nothing a 3 year old could do that would elicit more than a quick reaction snap with little if any harm done to the child. Even then the child would have to catch the dog by surprise and hurt it. I suppose if the child had provoked this attack it would make more sense?
Wow, then... gotta hand it to the police for being proactive!
