There is no way in hell that I would send my kids to a public school in the NYC area. Stuy and Bronx Science are OK, although the latter is next to the glorified Juvie Hall known as De Witt Clinton High (alma mater of Robert Klein).

It may interest you to know that Bronx Science places such a premium on getting kids into the best college that their entire English curriculum used to consist of vocabulary memorization.
I don't know if that is still the case, but I do know that when I got to college there were Bronx Science luminaries who had to take remedial English because they did not know how to write a coherent paper.
