9/11 picture of Bush
1/31/06 | self

Posted on 01/31/2006 6:14:34 AM PST by calebcar

Can someone please find me a link to a picture of President Bush reading to students on 9/11. A colleague showed me a picture of him reading to students with a book upside down, along with assorted (mis)quotes. If its (otherwise) the same picture I will be able to point out the quality of his information.

thanks.

I've seen the pic you describe and it's not from his school visit on 9-11.

On 9-11, Bush was clearly reading along with a child's storybook "My Pet Goat". The picture I saw had a book with a different title and have apparently been Photoshopped to be upside down.

http://www.snopes.com/photos/bushbook.asp

"Origins: This may be a funny picture, but even if were real, it would still be just a funny picture.

The photo does show some tell-tale signs of digital editing, so the real explanation is that someone took an existing picture and flipped the image of the book in President Bush's hands. Note, for example, that the picture on the back of the book in the student's hands and the one on the back of the book President Bush is holding are the reverse of each other, a dead giveaway that the photo was manipulated:"

Also note that there is writing under Mrs.Cheney's picture on the back cover(lower pic). That writing is missing in the manipulated upside down pic.

Now there is a video going around called "Bush being Bush. It makes President Bush look stupid when speaking in public. I received it twice and twice I sent the Democratic Crybaby seal to the persons that sent me the Video.

Now you can tell your colleague that they fell for another hoax about the President. It would be interesting to see how many hoaxes your colleague has fallen for because they so desperately want to believe that a man with an MBA from Harvard, and an undergraduate degree from Yale is an unintelligent, incompetent boob.

The liberals have been conned into believing a myth about the President. This leads them to constantly underestimate the man.

But when I refresh the page. The green face comes back.

What does a picture of him with an upside down book prove?

I've been handed tons of things in my life... it stands to reason that someone handed him the same book that kid was reading - and when handed to him it was upside down.

So what does this prove?

Does this prove that Bush can read in an extrodinary manner?

I would guess that your co-worker is a childish moron, am I correct in saying that?

The owner of the picture probably put tbat on so no one will steal it and post it. I am just grateful that no disgusting pictures were posted instead. I once tried to post a picture of a tin-foil hat and the owner of the picture set it up that anyone who copies the picture will automatically have a huge disgusting porn picture post instead. You don't know it's going to happen until after you post. When you preview it - it looks quite normal but after you post this really horrible picture pops up. Needless to say I horrified my fellow Freepers and myself. But the Admin moderators were quick at deleting it. Embarrasing to say the least. I would much rather have the smilie face than any disgusting picture. That's why you have to be extra careful with some sights. They trick you into thinking you can post their pictures. What they should do is just put a block on them instead. Some of them have VERY SICK minds.

I always right click on the picture, select properties, highlight and copy properties. Then paste properties after <img src=" ". Is that the normal way to do it?

I have never had a problem with any pictures, but I can see where someone could trick you.....

I do it the exact same way - its just a matter of being careful of the websites. Some of the people just don't want you posting their pictures. There is a block they can put on it but some just are very sick.

The possible reasons for a "Mr. Yuck" or porno picture instead of what you wanted to link is usually because people don't want their images "hotlinked." Hotlinking means the image loads from their server whenever it's called in a thread on FR. If 10,000 people read the FR thread, their image is called from their server 10,000 times. That can cost them a bit in bandwidth, or even get their site shut down.

In that case, the best thing to do is copy the image to your computer and upload it to another free image hosting service like imageshack.us or others.

In cases of rights-protected images (like Getty Images, some news photos, etc.), best not to post their stuff at all and make more work for the Admin Mod.
