OK, new thread for the next week.
First, a big shout out to the SETI and BOINC members who have added CPUs to the effort. Remember, its Team 36120, NOT Team 0.
Next, congrats to all for bumping our team up to 550 processors and 232 user names. We have a number of new users in the team, with over a 40 computers now from GetLoaded.com, a trucking support website, all contributing while their owners ply our freeways keeping the nation moving.
New members of the week include:
Mike_Medved (Thank you very much for your support)
Zach_Erskine
Route66
OldsDon'tFloat (who is this!? - can't link to a FR screen name. Must be from MA)
glockrocks
Mrs_1066AD (thanks for the family involvement)

Derllak (award for the fastest new folder, streaking up the boards)(Fastest Folding Streaker Award?)
Even more impressive, our team now boasts 145 members who have folded at least 1,000 points. That is more than the entire number of folders for our erstwhile left-wing environazi competitors!
Free Republic Folding@Home Stats Page
On the global front, Free Republic Folders is now listed at # 326. We will be in the Top 300 on Wednesday!
As we continue to grow there are a number of milestones coming around the bend:
Top 300 by February
Top 250 by the end of the February
We have 1,000,000 points so far and have folded over 8,030 WU. We will soon reach an exalted mark of folding a million points per month, each and every month! Fantastic!
Thanks again to all that are helping us advance science and promote the peaceful use of computers.
Extreme Overclockers Stats for Free Republic
A link between Stanford and the world was down. Probably Sunday morning maintenance.
I'm back on-line now... my primary system had the boot drive go flaky Thursday night. I think things are finally close to reasonably stable. :-)
You must have had the "blow-out, vapor three" bug.
The FAH official site keeps a combined total and associated ranking for those with points earned for multiple teams (but with the same user name).
Well, Oscar said he could fix it, but I didn't have the money... ;)

Thanks for the ping.
I used to do SETI, but was told I would wear down my hard drive, or in some way shorten the ultimate life time of my computer.
Can you explain why that wouldn't happen?
This is a "Please consider joining the team" bump.
I can't think of anything, and there are some ultra geeks who "fold" and would highlight the dangers if they were there. If you aren't overclocking your computer and it's clean, there is no reason that your cpu should overheat. And it uses the harddrive so little it's not worth any concern. In a strange sense if you run F@H on your computer 24/7 it will be healthier than turning it on and off.

Thank you.
See if they hotlink that one ;)
Would the new 5.04 beta text only version be better in any way?
Here's the screenshot: DUped!
And did this person tell you what facts were used to develop that opinion??
I suppose we could take the extremist view and say that even checking email and surfing Free Republic shortens the life of your computer. :-) However, as long as your hardware is in good condition and has adequate cooling / ventilation, all should be fine. Folding uses the processor as much as it can, you can always throttle it back a bit if you want it to use less. Checkpoints are written to the hard drive every 20-30 minutes or so.
