LOL Actually, we're having a nice day here, and I may take a walk. While seeing what used to be a wooded area that has now been bulldozed to make room for more houses is depressing, the overall effect of the walk should make depression less likely for me. If I don't get back to posting, I wish you luck in job hunting this week. If you get an interview, I'd spare them the theory about people enjoying depression. Admittedly, I'm horrible in interviews, but I don't think that theory would help you.

Yeah, I'm with ya, there is an area that used to be a meadow that is now being bulldozed and houses built on it, kind of depressing at my end too. Man this place has sure changed, even from 1985 and a lot more from what I remember of it in 1970. Then again, where I work at, the corporate headquarters for one of the divisions of a major shipping company, used to be clear and if that wasn't there, I wouldn't have a job so I have to take things in context. B-)

North of me in Cranberry, PA, it used to be so rural, my cousin lived there, would have been a nice place to take my .22LR rifle and go shooting but not now, it is so built up, traffic is murder, malls everywhere, you can't swing a baseball bat without hitting a building. I remember when I worked for a truck rental company, we had to run cars up (we did some work for the car division too) to the hotels in Cranberry, it was a circus there even in 1989/91, it is three times as bad now. To get to rural and small town America, I'd have to go as far as Zelinople or Butler, PA. Come to think of it, I remember my grandmother telling stories where her uncle bought a Model T for $13 a month and he used to take her and some of her family up north to Mercer to see some relatives up there. She remembers that U.S. Route 19 was paved up to Zelinople and beyond that, it was a dirt road.

Yep, it's sad to see everything become so crowded. I wish we could go back to a time with fewer people. On the positive side, I had a pretty good walk. I should have taken my binoculars because the birds were very active. I saw numerous yellow-rumped warblers, an orange-crowned warbler, an eastern meadowlark, some cardinals, some mockingbirds, and a big raptor that I didn't see well enough to identify. I saw some other species as well but couldn't identify them without binoculars.

No one pinged him. He was clearly actually searching us out to harrass and demean us. He can be a jerk all he wants on the other thread, but he had NO right to come to THIS thread and act like that.

"Personally, I see nothing positive about single. I become frustrated with people who try to tell me that there is something positive about it. Being single is horrible. Being single is better than being in a bad marriage..."

I guess it's all in our perspective. I've grown to enjoy singlehood. I'm so busy with school and work, I don't think I would have enough time for a relationship. Plus, I've slept in my own bed by myself for so long, I don't know what I'd do if I had to share it. LOL! I think I would rather be single for the rest of my life than be in a bad marriage. But, it's all personal opinion.

I see your point, if you do have a full plate in your life, it is best for a relationship of that type to wait. ik now in my case ,I'm trying to dig myself out of an economic funk so in my case, I have to slay a few of those demons before I can truly have the time, money and ability to commit myself to someone else. I think society in general and it's expectations along with relatives at times make people rush into those things. You know, "he's 30 or 40, why ain't he married" and to pacify the relatives and/or soicety, people might make bum decisions and they will mosy likely get stung and live with that the rest of their lives. It is like my best friend, I love him like a brother, been together since grade school, but he rushes into things like that and no matter how many times he got burnt, he still does. If you remember the cartoon, "The Tick," the logic of "The Tick" where he says, "leap before you look" would make a good description of my buddy when it comes to relationships.

I know that feeling. I've gotten a few "old maid" comments in the past. LOL!

I'm glad that you're happy with your situation. I'll always hate being single, but the way in which I hate it changes with time. I hope that you're able to continue enjoying your situation as time passes. I realize that sharing a bed, a room, a house, or anything else would be a tough adjustment for me after being single for so long. When you mention that issue, I agree that changes could be tough. On the other hand, if I liked the person with whom I was sharing everything, relief from the loneliness would be very pleasant. A dehydrated man emerging from the desert is likely to choke on his first swallow of water or throw it up as soon as he swallows. However, that water will eventually save his life.

My word of warning is not to wait too long if you want to be married someday. While I never liked being single, I always felt that I had plenty of time. The reality is that I didn't have plenty of time. I hit a bad patch in my career and spent six years getting back on my feet. Living through those times with a wife would have been difficult, but a good marriage could have survived. As it was, when I finally emerged again, I was old enough that my choices weren't very good. It's great to enjoy where one is in life, but it's also important to be sure that one isn't on a path to a bad place. I was on that path without knowing it and would hate to see others follow the same path.

I am happy with the path I chose. It may be a path to permanent singleness, but if I had a choice, I'd do it all over again.

Very good! If you know that you've done what's right for you, that's all that matters.
