Welcome to the OFFICIAL Friday/Saturday Night Singles' Thread
January 27th and 28th, 2006
"We're Gonna Have a Good Time Tonight...Let's Celebrate...It's All Right!"
In store for tonight:
I read a fascinating article in the February 2006 issue of Popular Mechanics entitled "The Flying Luxury Hotel." Rather than a cruise ship, it functions as a cruise craft -- but the potential for this new aircraft also extends to military and commercial freighting applications. More information can be found here. Let me know what you think!
Further thoughts:
What is/are your pet peeve(s)?

Free Republic is the premier online gathering place for independent, grass-roots
conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse,
to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.
And we always have fun doing it. Hoo-yah!

I'm really not very ambitious. Just a decent job making enough where I can support myself. That isn't sales or customer service (I wouldn't be good at that). And I'm good to go.
I thought my college degree would help me, but it hasn't. I guess nobody needs an English major for anything.

It bites sometimes.
I sprained an ankle a couple of weeks ago and it just won`t get better, still gimping around like an old man.
That stuff used to take care of itself in a few days.Oh well.

I imagine the fuel economy would be better, too, although I was thinking more in terms of durability. Ah, OK! I was just curious.
To: scott7278
LOL! My old car was a little cavalier - it got me through many a blizzard. ;-)

We're pretty nice. We won't bite!
Not hard, anyway...

Actually, my brother bought a used Cavalier with almost 100K on it, and drove it for seven years before it finally died. They were good little cars.

I had to say good bye to mine. It had almost (but not quite) 200,000 miles on it.

I had a 1992 Jeep Wrangler, but had to sell it in '98 because of its lack of functionality. That's what gets me so excited about the new Jeep!
No, I do not work for them. :)

There are three acceptable English spellings that I'm aware of. That's why I used all three in the post
J Not many people can name it though J

I have depth perception issues...which is one reason driving in traffic isn't my bad. Otherwise I'd think about getting a trailer for the furniture. As it is...I'll just replace it. I don't have anything fancy anyway. I don't have any depth perception at all, so I understand your feelings on this point. Driving a U-Haul truck isn't too bad. I rented one in Nashville in '94 to move some furniture that I inherited. I brought it from Nashville to Louisiana. I was fortunate in that I didn't have to go through too many cities. I would think that the drive from Fort Collins to Washington shouldn't be too bad. Most of that part of the country is pretty rural.

I worry about going near Portland and that whole area. And parking the thing.
But I should be OK with just the van.
Do you have one eye that doesn't work, or doesn't work well? That's why I don't have depth perception...makes me wonder just what it's like. Maybe I'll get to see depth in heaven. ;-)
It also means I hate driving in the dark. I can judge distances using size and overlap during the day, but at night...forget that. Tough with turning into multi-lane traffic.
