our yard is about a 45 degree slope, it wouldn't be safe for a riding mower. the lawnboys use the stand-on kind of mower and go up and down diagonally. T5, your yard and that story of your neighbor going over the edge was scary as crap. xshub is helpful, he can do laundry. he CAN grocery shop, but only if i want to go the next day because he buys the .25 lb of ham, as you will recall!
Our place is just about completely flat, and with well over an acre that must be mowev, a riding mower is an absolute must.
Hubby is actually looking forward to how much tilling I am going to be needing done, because it will then be that much less that will need to be mowed.
Just the thought of the space needed for the raspberry bushes and strawberry plants I have ordered has him practically down right giddy :)
Well coolbreeze has ruined his perfect record of going to the store on his way home from work, and so now I do have to go tomorrow. I only asked for 3 things, dog food, cat food and cigarettes. He didn't forget anything.......he forgot to stop altogether. I have enough animal food for them all for the morning, so I'll go at some point, I didn't have the heart to send him back out.
If sent grocery shopping, my hubby also gets a fraction of the amount of an item needed, unless it is canned ripe olives-and he buys a 6 months supply of those-and he doesn't know one cut of meat from another, either.
If we do build on one of those bigger lots, I'm going to do the same as Gabz and have a huge garden space tilled-there is a dearth of variety in the fresh vegetables for sale up here, so I see a need I can fill. I hadn't thought about the extra, added benefit of less yard to mow.
Hubby says he is not hurting any more and is downstairs organizing the work he brought home to do-he quit taking the supermotrin yesterday and switched to over-the-counter Advil. Since he is doing so well, I called my customer and told her I could bring the materials for her job over this morning, so I'm going to do that now-hubby needs the computer for his work, too, and if I don't get away from here for a few hours, I'll run mad-I'll come to class later...
