PITTSBURGH Jan 24, 2006 To coach Bill Cowher, the Pittsburgh Steelers simply look right in white.
The Steelers will buck years of tradition and wear their white away uniforms in the Super Bowl against Seattle, even though they are designated by the NFL as the home team and could wear their more imposing black jersey tops.
The black jerseys and gold pants are the Steelers' traditional look, and numerous sports teams have switched to black uniforms in recent years because they believe it creates a more intimidating presence.

I really like this color combo. That SeaHag lime green piping is still butt-ugly.

Polamalu's long hair is more imposing when framed against white.

You are right! That is enough to make them wear white!
I still prefer the black but not in this one.

Didn't Jack graduate from the University of Mars? (Alex Karras said that about Otis Sistrunk - but applies here too) At one of their Superbowl wins, where the players all used to announce their name and the college they went to (do they still do that?), Jack said "Jack Lambert - Buzzard Breath Wyoming!"

They won Super Bowl IX wearing white, and lost Super Bowl XXX, to the COWBOYS, wearing black.

Ok...idiot woman here asks:
Why do they get to decide which ones to wear? Won't this force the SEAHAWKS into wearing the dark uniforms? Isn't this an established MO?

This year the AFC is the home team and the home team always decides what to wear. Generally, teams wear the dark jersey's at home in football, however, some teams like Dallas always wears white at home (unless some factor, like Thanksgiving, Dallas would wear their retro 1960's uniforms).

This really could be one of the better SBs in the last 10 years.
I really like the matchup, regardless the uniforms.

On paper, both teams are even.
- QBs - No edge
- RBs - Slight edge to Seattle
- WRs - No Edge
- TEs - Slight edge to Pittsburgh
- Defense - Even
- Kicking game - Slight edge to Pittsburgh
- Special Teams - Could cost Seattle the Championship
