Okay, let's get it started in here . . .
Here's my prediction: Broncos win the AFC and play the Seahawks in the Superbowl. Wouldn't it be interesting, to see these old AFC rivals take on each other in the Big Show!?
Whoa! sez the Steelers fan! Not so fast. Okay, here's why I think the Broncos will beat them: Home field advantage, no injuries, they're on a roll, AND, especially, because their record is 13-3 (IN THE AFC WEST) and the Steelers are 11-5. BIG difference.
I love Cowher as a coach, and I have lots of family ties to the Steelers, but the Broncos is headed back to the Super Bowl, baaaaby!!
I don't have much to say about the Seahawks and Panthers. I just think Holmgren's got them where he wants them, the Seahawk fans have finally got that "12th-man" thing down, and, though Carolina's really dominant, I don't think they're good enough to beat the Seahawks right now. What do you think?

It does not follow that because all those teams play in the Mile High City, and the air is thin there, their records should all reflect dominance against away teams from lower altitudes. Coaching, team rosters, etc. make the difference.
- Thank you. That's what I was trying to say. ;-)

The air is equally thin for all who play at altitude. I think the "mile high" thing is a psych-out attempt, and a relatively weak one at that.
Have you ever visited Denver? I'm actually a native of Colorado (Denver) and moved away for about 10 years to the coast. I still remember moving back to Denver, walking to retrieve my luggage at DIA, and feeling my lungs aching just by climbing a couple flights of stairs.
I used to run a lot of cross country. We loved going to other states (especially the coast) because we could literally run all day. It felt like we were on pure oxygen. That's why the Olympic athletes train in Colorado Springs. It's a competitive advantage when you're lungs are acclimated.
GO BRONCO'S!!!

Fire up the road graders and get the medics ready for the Steelers knees.

Uhhhh. It's a good thing I'm not suiting up for the Steelers tomorrow 'cause, jeepers, now I'm really psyched out.
Thanks for the input. Still it seems strange that the difference between the Nuggets home-record vs. away-record is not distinguished compared to the home vs. away records of sea-level teams --- and this in a sport that is far more up-tempo than football.
Catch ya' later, I've got a pretzel-making party to attend with my German born friends.

We're giggling about that great Redskins hero Timmy Smith looking at 10 to life in the joint for dealing cocaine.

After the Colts lost their first game, they acted like a boxer that had gotten knocked down for the first time. They became much more tentative, and never played a half game as well afterwards. Of course, the death of Dungy's son affected the entire team. Some teams, like the Bengals and the Colts, just seem snake bit. I think any of the four teams left could win the Super Bowl. In order of likliehood, I think Broncos and Seahawks are most likely, with Broncos winning it all.

well put. And that's what I love about this season . . . any four of the remaining teams could win it! (I hated the years when the Cowboys and the 49ers took turns winning the Super Bowl. When things are too predictable it takes all the fun out of it. You could call the super bowl after week seven! Booooring . . .)

A friend of mine was at last week's game. He said the crowd was so loud that he couldn't hear HIMSELF yell or scream. I'm a BRONCO fan.....I just want a good game. I LOVE the Playoffs!!

A friend of mine was at last week's game. He said the crowd was so loud that he couldn't hear HIMSELF yell or scream. I'm a BRONCO fan.....I just want a good game. I LOVE the Playoffs!! Two of my sons were there, too. They said the same thing. The thin air is not a psyche out tool, either- it is real. I think one of the reasons it tends to affect football players is that these are big guys we are talking about that don't exactly run the 100 yd dash. They get winded. And, yes, the ball does go further in the kicking game. Anyone who has ever played tennis in Denver vs sea level has seen for themselves...
