Good morning! I'll write up a quick review as soon as I wake up. What are still doing up?
Good morning!

LOL! We are a breed of our own, aren't we? :))
Good morning, Jem!
Good morning, dark outside ain't it.
Good morning.
Since I am unable to sleep, I will give a short review of the party last night.
It was such a nice evening. Everyone was able to attend. The set menu was excellent, stuffed chicken with a honey/mustard/lemon sauce; rice pilaf; vegetables; rolls; green salad; raspberry cream pie; and cranberry apple juice. If you are ever in Salt Lake City, you must eat at the Lion House. The Lion House was Brigham Young's house, the recipes that are used are what has been served there over the years. I would call the menu Mormon comfort food.
We played fifties music in the background; then after dessert, we showed the slide show. My sister did a great job of arranging the pictures to the music. There was even a picture of my dad in the Army during the Korean War (he was stationed in Germany.)
My sister and I then read the He said, She said answers. (How did you meet, what kind of dates did you go on, how did you know you were right for each other, etc.) She started the scrapbook, but ran out of time to finish it. Another sister and sister-in-law put together a scrapbook of memories from us children and the grandchildren with pictures. I can't wait to read the whole book.
Then they opened a few gifts: a picture from their wedding reception together with a picture of the Salt Lake LDS temple, which was where they were married.
It was a wonderful evening, full of memories and laughter and great company. It was good to have a private room, the hostess and servers were so professional and did a super job. It was fun to hear my parents tell their stories and see their love for each other after 50 years of marriage. I'm so very lucky to be their daughter. :)
I can't sleep. :( Thanks for the review, I look forward to reading it.
Too dark to see outside, but it's good to 'see' you up here and posting. Latest news on your shack-in-the-back coming up this morning?
What a great party you pulled off for your folks!! The scrapbooks will be treasured possessions. I can't think of a better gift.
The menu sounds wonderful.
It was wonderful. Everything went really well, everyone came. I even got to see my newest little nephew, he's seven weeks old and absolutely adorable. With the risk of RSV, they are pretty careful with him.
And they are lucky, too, in having a daughter like you. The love and care in giving them this party is evidence of that.
What I want to do now is visit with my parents with a tape recorder and get their stories orally. They can then be stored on CD or DVD and will be around for generations to come. My dad said he found a reel-to-reel tape of us when we were little kids. We sang and talked. My brother was probably 18 months old and just said "ch, ch..." (That was his version of shhhh when my mom put him to bed.)
It was really fun planning the party. Thank goodness they wanted it to be low-key.
I'm sorry for the rant, but this is a hot button for me as I see many people being disenfranchised by the modern church music. It doesn't have to be as exclusive as it is becoming.
Good morning, Two.
Good morning!
What wonderful memories you all have from the years together as a family and now from last night's well planned party. Your parents will never forget the effort and love that went into planning that party.
Whenever someone tells me they can't think what to give their parents, I tell them "your time". And you and your siblings and in-laws did that and it's the very best gift.
Good morning to you.
It sounds lovely. I'm sure everyone had a wonderful time. The scrapbook sounds just perfect for them to review and relive.
