This page will describe the construction of a miniature eight cylinder engine I built in my home machine shop over the past few years. I still have a few small details left to finish, but the engine is running and almost complete. This was my first attempt at building a running miniature engine, I should have started with something a little simpler. I had a great time designing and building this engine and the first time it started was an unbelievable experience. I am going to take the engine back apart over the next several days to modify it for running on racing fuel or alcohol, I haven't decided which yet, I will be increasing the compression ratio by milling a bit more material off the cylinder heads. I will take pictures of all the internal components and post them here along with how I went about machining the parts and tooling.

Go to the website to see more of this amazing labor of love. And whatever you do, don't miss the video.

I do not know this guy but I am in awe of his skill as an engineer and designer.
The level of detail and craftsmanship is beyond belief.
Cheers for an outstanding achievement.

They build radials for model airplanes at least as neat.
Lets not even talk about mini-turbines (it gives me palpitations).
BTW where do you get the Hemi part?

On his "Other projects" page he shows his radial engine and gas turbine projects.
The guy is an overachiever.

Absolutely lovely.. And if the area kids find out, he'll have a line of go cart racers outside his door, begging to help him figure out how much HP his engine produces.

Apparently he has water jackets in the block and a radiator.
The more I looked, the more amazed I was.
The level of detail is stunning.

I kept looking it over and just noticed teh two small fans at the backside of teh engine.
It is quite interesting.
Wonder how much horsepower it has for something its size?
It does get about 12k rpm.
