PORN-AGAIN STAR (actor Stephen Baldwin, born-again Christian, acts against nabe sex shop)

PEEPIN' STEPHEN: Stephen Baldwin, a born-again Christian, plans to snap photos of license plates of people going into a Nyack store once it's a sex shop, then publicize their names. Photo: Djamilla Rosa/WireImage.com

Actor Stephen Baldwin has his shorts in a bunch over a sex shop opening near his estate in Rockland County.....

The least-known of the Baldwins, Stephen, a born-again Christian, parked himself outside the Route 59 location in Nyack and took snapshots of construction workers walking in and out of the building.

Once the smut shop opens in a few months, the 39-year-old star of "The Usual Suspects" plans to photograph patrons' license plates and run their names in the local newspaper to shame them from ever returning.

His beef is that the store is within a quarter-mile of the community's residential area. "This is a thoroughfare that I drive by many, many times as do college kids, mothers with their children," Baldwin said.

He said he and other residents protested at Nyack planning-board meetings and asked the owner, Quintus Algama of Hollis, Queens, to choose a more distant location, but he wouldn't listen.

In addition to selling sex toys and porn, the shop will also feature video booths where patrons can watch hardcore flicks in total privacy.

"These guys want to do this business, God bless 'em. That's between them and God. They'll have to deal with that for eternity. But the people of Nyack do not want this location where it is," Baldwin said.

Baldwin said he's already enlisted the help of dozens of students of nearby Nyack College who'll be at the store the day it opens to protest.

Within a week of opening this porn shop will have drug dealers and prostitutes hanging in the parking lot. I predict a shooting within 6 months of opening.

I can see why the neighborhood objects to its presence.

In five years it will have materially affected their safety and the resulting crime statistics will negatively affect their property values, especially if a few chi chi bars open up near-by. It's simple broken windows economics.

The best way to drive them out of business is to have a bevy of mothers with children pass out free cookies and pamphlets during peak business hours.

Stephen does NOT look as happy as a little girl...

No he doesn't. Honestly, he creeps me out. I don't know what it is, but he makes my skin crawl.

I see nothing Christian about the activity that this guys planning to engage in.

Perhaps, but I see nothing unChristian about it either. He tried all other avenues, and the city and the shop owner would not listen. He is trying to protect the residential area, and this is his last resort.

If you have other constructive ideas for battling this, I'm sure he'd like to hear about them.

That's not what they're doing. They are taking a stand against the impact such an establishment has upon the traffic and fabric of the surrounding community.

I say ban them all to Nevada and make it a 21 and older state.

The building in question is on a 4 lane highway that is for all intents and purposes completely commercial. It is a former auto dealership. The closest residential area is some way away.

Just filling in some blanks here.

Sorry, but statistically opening a BAR is more likely to attract the element you are laying at this establishments feet.

Most of these businesses operate uneventfully in their communities. Drugs, prostitution and violence are far more likely to come with a Bar or Strip club.. than an adult toy/video store.

You really want to track drug activity... hottest bed for that now is starting to be the extended stay hotels... will these guys be taking license plates of everyone who stays at those for the good of the community?

Maybe it's the gold neck chain and the fact that he looks greasy enough to fry a few thousand hamburgers.

Your plan is so much better. He and 5 or 6 guys should show up and yell, "Now is the time at the porno store when we dance!"

Think about it, anyone who shows up and sees a half dozen guys doing modernistic German dancing in the parking lot is just going to drive away.

LMAO! Maybe you are on to something.

The freaky, "I'm too sexy for my greasy hair and gold chain" face doesn't help, either.

That is exactly what they are doing. This is a business opening in an old car dealership.. not some bedroom community. The notion that these establishments bring all sorts of moral decay defacto is just not backed up by any sort of reality.

A group is free to fight their permits, zoning requests etc.. but once a legal business is open, attempting to intimidate its patrons, and claiming to do so out of Christian principles is absolute hypocrisy.

God grants us all with free will, we are not an Islamic nation where what some Priest declares to be morally right, means all who don't agree are stoned in the streets or locked up. You accomplish nothing with the sort of activity that these guys are advocating, other than harrassment and intimidation which are NOT remotely Christian principles.

The business is not in a residential area, its not impacting other attached businesses... let it do its thing, and if the community doesn't support it, it will go away. Historically these sorts of businesses quietly operate without any sort of incidence, and folks who don't want to go there, don't...

Your local Bar or Strip club has far more chance of attracting drugs, prostitution, violence and other negative elements and problems than stores that specialize in selling foam rubber phallisus and such.

Good for him. It is really embarrassing for me when my family drives by the huge pink building that has in bold letters ADULT ONLY. When my daughter was eight she asked what they sold. I believe these smut stores should be less noticeable. Surely those that frequent these establishments would find them.

"Think about it, anyone who shows up and sees a half dozen guys doing modernistic German dancing in the parking lot is just going to drive away."

Make that a half dozen clearly deranged, vaguely threatening yet more than just a tad effeminate guys doing modernistic German DAHNCE in the parking lot, lol.

What residential area? Its an abandoned CAR DEALERSHIP ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY... That argument doesn't hold water.

You see nothing unchristian about harrasment and intimidation? If that is the case then I suggest you might want to revisit your Bible.
