PEEPIN' STEPHEN: Stephen Baldwin, a born-again Christian, plans to snap photos of license plates of people going into a Nyack store once it's a sex shop, then publicize their names. Photo: Djamilla Rosa/WireImage.com
Actor Stephen Baldwin has his shorts in a bunch over a sex shop opening near his estate in Rockland County.....
The least-known of the Baldwins, Stephen, a born-again Christian, parked himself outside the Route 59 location in Nyack and took snapshots of construction workers walking in and out of the building.
Once the smut shop opens in a few months, the 39-year-old star of "The Usual Suspects" plans to photograph patrons' license plates and run their names in the local newspaper to shame them from ever returning.
His beef is that the store is within a quarter-mile of the community's residential area. "This is a thoroughfare that I drive by many, many times as do college kids, mothers with their children," Baldwin said.
He said he and other residents protested at Nyack planning-board meetings and asked the owner, Quintus Algama of Hollis, Queens, to choose a more distant location, but he wouldn't listen.
In addition to selling sex toys and porn, the shop will also feature video booths where patrons can watch hardcore flicks in total privacy.
"These guys want to do this business, God bless 'em. That's between them and God. They'll have to deal with that for eternity. But the people of Nyack do not want this location where it is," Baldwin said.
Baldwin said he's already enlisted the help of dozens of students of nearby Nyack College who'll be at the store the day it opens to protest.

Don't think that was my point. You called people who enter a porn store perverts. What I am saying is that, who are you to judge them? Who is Stephen Baldwin to "record" people who go into the store? It's their lives, let them live it.
If you think having your photo taken is harrasment, you'd make a poor celebrity, LOL...
Doormat? Not engaging in sin to force or coerce others to ones will is not being a doormat.
My question about Lazarus had nothing to do with faith, it had to do with pointing out that Christs actions are those of the Lord, and God has told us what is our responsibility and what is not, and he has also told us what duties are to be left to him. Vengence is the Lords, if he seeks vengence upon those who change money in his house, that is indeed his right... that does not mean that it is you place to do so.
You are not exposing anything, these activists are not exposing anything. The customers of this business are not doing so in secret, and the business is not operating hidden in some cave... all they are doing is hypocritical and sinful actions attempting to harrass and intimidate others to their will.
The bible is very clear about how to treat the sinner, and that is to assume they are ignorant of the fact they are sinning and inform them of their sinful ways.. if however they still choose to sin, it does not say for us to take it upon ourselves to force them to stop, or harras them or intimidate them or otherwise castigate them.
Sorry, but that argument does not wash. Harrassment is harrassment, and its immorral and sinful behavior.
Taking it upon yourself to expose the sins of others to the world, is not your place... What was it that Jesus said about that?? Something I recall about those without sin casting the first stone?
I am absolutely amazed that so many supposedly "Christian" people wholesale ignore the actual words of Christ and his father when attempting to justify their hypocrisy.
The bible is quite clear about how a believer should deal with a sinner... and what their moral obligations are. And nowhere does it say you shall intimidate and harrass and coerce them from their path. Inform them of their sin, or suffer responsibility for them... but it does not say it is your job to drive them from their path.
Islam takes that belief system... obey the edicts or die or be punished in this world.... Christ did not advocate that sort of thing at all.
I have a soft heart, I believe what they are planning to do they do with good intentions, but that the methods they choose to do it with shows ignorance of the true teachings of Christ, and they will use his name to justify it.. which ultimately is hypocritical... and sinful action. Intentions do not negate the realities... What is it they say about the road to hell being paved with?
Bascially I have informed them of what I believe to be their sin, to cleans myself from responsibility before God for it, if they in the end choose to engage in it.
The end of the day, sin does and will always exist in this world.. the idea that you can drive sin out of the world is foolhearty... for all that leads to is an authoritarian state. You change lives and the world by changing minds.. not by harrassment or intimidation or coercion.
Taking a photo is not a sin, but to take that photo with the clear and intendended purpose of harrassment and intimidation most certainly is... and that is exactly what they are planning on doing.
Having sex isn't a sin.. having sex with someone you aren't married to or is married to another is... Trying to narrow the scope of the reality to make an argument, doesn't fly. You cannot seperate action from intent before the eyes of the Lord.
Well, no one is going to be upset about their photo at the PX. I don't think porn should be sold there either. It is up us to clean up our acts, we are all sinners, and we sometimes need help. Baldwin may help some people remember that God sees everything we do.
I think Baldwin is just trying to keep his community clean, how's that for intent?
Dave,
You can keep trying to mix apples and oranges, but it does not fly. First you wish to talk about sin, then you want to talk about it in a legal context. Harrassment is harrassment, intimidation is intimidation whether it fits in the legal criteria is not a matter of sin/morality. They are not interchangeable. It is wholey clear what the "protestors" intent is, and that intent is not Christian in the least, even if it is legal.
As to torture, and morality or Warfare, that is an entirely different ball of wax, and to presume that you know my stand on a completely disparigent topic, as an attempt to undermine my stand on this one, shows that you either are rather ignorant or lazy on the intellectual matter being discussed.
These people are going to do whatever they heck they want to do.. .regardless of the word of the Lord... just as the patrons and owners of the store are going to do. So be it.. my only complaint is that those who claim to be doing the protesting claim that they are doing the actions they are because they are following the teachings of Christ.. when clearly their intent and actions are not remotely following those teachings.
Now, from a purely practical non religious standpoint, the protest will happen, it won't have any effect, other than to draw even more attention to the place by the very kids that they claim to be protecting.
Again no one is upset about the photo. It's the invasion of privacy when publishing their names that's the issue. Whatever Baldwin's intent he does not have the right to invade a citizen's privacy. Let's just hope no one kicks him in the nuts like his brother did to a photographer.
Apples vs Oranges:
Legaly, Baldwin has the right to photograph and publish, you agree.
Moraly, Baldwin has the right to try and protect his communities standards.
Each of us has to decide what we should do, I support Baldwin.
Baldwin has the right to photograph. He doesn't have the right to publish anyone's photograph with the intent to disparage that person's character. He will be sued. If you are so supportive of Baldwin's tactics, why are you not out there photographing and publishing photos of adult store patrons in your area? If it's legal as you claim, what's stopping you?
Thank you. I had this epiphany driving back from Louisiana one night when I found myself getting all lovey just outside of Hope. Of course, the front end of the Duster did need alignment and the u-joint was bad, so I first I thought it was just the car. After the rearend fell off the Duster a few days later (when I was doing about 80 down I-40), and I had to use the Nissan, the same thing happened while I was cruising down a construction zone near Burns Park.
Then it hit me EUREKA! It was the roads. I called the highway department and told them what I figured out but they told me they already knew it and most folks seemed to like it just fine. They also hit me with a gag order which forbids me discussing it in Arkansas.
parsy, who figures the hwy dept can't figure out who I am.
A bunch of Missionaries over the centuries sure have though it was Christ thru them that actually did the heavy lifting....be careful about that line of attack, remember we sometimes" entertain angels unaware"!
I live about 20 minutes from this town. There are two fully nude clubs on this same strip. I wonder why Baldwin doesn't target them.
Now that I think about it, there is also a store on that same strip that sells nothing but marijuana paraphenalia (my friend told me about this). Funny little town that Nyack is.
I'm more disturbed Baldwin lives that close. Why doesn't he go back to his native habitat on LawnGuyLand. There's a Guido Nature Reserve somewhere out in Riverhead.
It might be time to d/l some hi res movie stills of his naked ass and plaster them around Nyack.
They aren't trying to put one in my neighborhood, or anywhere NEAR my neighborhood. We have zoneing where I live that prevents it. No alchohol sales near schools either, because MOST people want to protect families!
So, you're OK with restricting adult businesses to certain zones as determined by local ordinance? This is the best way to deal with legal businesses that many find objectionable (or dangerous to your family, as you claim). Moral crusaders and vigilantes should devote their efforts to stop illegal activities where real crime exists. We are a nation of laws. Work to change the laws if you feel so strongly about something.
