In its 6th week of limited release, the film garnered another $12 million at the box office bringing the total to more than $44 million. It's now one of the most successful independent films in history, and it's the 10th biggest box office Western of all-time. "Brokeback Mountain" was #5 at this weekend's box office -- not bad for a film that's been out six weeks and is still playing in only 1,100+ theaters (compared to 3,000+ for big Hollywood films). The film has already earned more than 3x its cost of $14 million.
