Brokeback Mountain Wins Best Picture at Golden Globes [PUKE Aert]

Posted on 01/16/2006 10:59:33 PM PST by goonie4life9

I just thought I'd let my fellow freepers know that their favorite movie, Brokeback Mountain, just won Best Picture at the Golden Globes. My gf tells me when they accepted the award, they were "stunned!"

How is that a "pesky little problem" or an "exaggeration"?

You made it sound as though there was a single "best film". You failed to indicate there was more than one. There was no qualifier in your statement. Yes, I used the word "all". Sue me. Make me pay. There's a new law that permits you to send me to jail for 2 years for annoying you. Use it.

Off with you, now. I have no tolerance for prissy people this early in the morning.

Wow, you sound like a real weirdo.

Other movies that Hollywood and the critics are raving about, and are destined to be Golden Globe and sure bet Oscar winners this year are:

1. Hot Studs in Chaps

2. Bush is Hitler

3. Iran is Great and Israel Should be Wiped Off the Map

4. Dykes and Trannies - A Love Story

The obsession with Brokeback is tiresome when there are other "pokes in the eye" among the Golden Globe winners. Here are three:

Felicity Hoffman won for "TransAmerica" about a male-to-female transgender.
Geena Davis won (softening us up for Hillary) for "Commander in Chief"
George "I coulda won it for Kerry" Clooney won for the anti-oil Syriana

Wow. That's quite a list. They live in a totally different world than we do. The netherworld.

According to the latest box office figures of Box Office Mojo, a campy sequel (Cheaper By the Dozen 2) has earned more than Munich and Brokeback Mountain combined:

Brokeback Mountain - $30,825,000

Munich - $32,901,000

_________________________________________

Cheaper by the Dozen 2 - $72,937,000

Meanwhile, other films have earned ten times what the gay cowboy movie and the pro-terrorist movie have made:

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe $261,240,000

America rejects Hollywood's garbage.

"Brokeback Mountain - $30,825,000

Munich - $32,901,000

Cheaper by the Dozen 2 - $72,937,000"

You have to put the above $ figures in perspective. Until this week, "Cheaper by the Dozen" has been playing on more than 3,100 screens while "Brokeback Mountain" has been playing on less than 500 (just expanded to 683). "Brokeback Mountain" per screen avg. is $8,480 compared to $1,830 for "Cheaper by the Dozen".

You left out "Paradise Now," which won the prize for foreign-language film. It glorified suicide bombers.

Their are a myriad of reasons why movies are distributed in the number of theaters shown.

But the brass tax, bottom line reason those movies are in less theaters is because less people want to see them.

I'll also see Capote in a few months when it's on DVD. My remote viewing abilities tell me Seymour Hoffman did a great job.

"Passion of the Christ" with some sort of pro-gay theme, his flick would have won Oscars too.

Sometimes that's true. But "Alexander" was a huge movie and flopped by trying to make a historic figure a homo. People rejected the leap from Greek Conqueror to Bi or Gay!

"Walk the Line" won best film for musical/comedy.

Well, the Oscars are going to have a problem, but because they have only one category for best film.
