"Passion of the Christ" with some sort of pro-gay theme, his flick would have won Oscars too.

Sometimes that's true. But "Alexander" was a huge movie and flopped by trying to make a historic figure a homo. People rejected the leap from Greek Conqueror to Bi or Gay!

Or just didn't really care about the personal life of a conqueror and saw it as the fatuous tedium it was.

Yes, but I not talking about a movie being a financial success. I'm talking about it being hailed by critics and given awards. BBM will awards, but it won't come close to doing the business of POTC. I'm talking about noise and hoopla being made.
