Nah, I think actually they are going to stage a midweek scrimmage game between the Stillers and the Refs. That'll teach'em!
I saw it just like the ref did. No interception, Colts ball. League coming out and making a statement is bogus and bad for the game. Steelers won, no harm no foul.
What's to purpose to bring out an internal problem.
There's more to the story.
I can only assume the ref didn't know whether it was false start or encroachment, so he decided nothing happened.
Now we can sit back and wait for Echo Talon to come along and tell us why this decision is wrong and the officials at the game were right.
Good question (although the correct way to say it is 'if the Steelers had lost'.) Here is a related answer:
Had the Colts won, what would the League do? Play over? Or?
I thought the official at the game was right too, but the league says otherwise. They should do away with the "football move" language anyway. Polamalu clearly caught the ball and retained possession even while rolling over on the ground.
And in other news of the obvious, the sun will rise in the east, Bill Clinton's a liar and Pamela Anderson has fake tatas.
That's two BIG BUMMPS for Pamela
I think the league admitting when an official blew it is good for the game. What's bad for the game is sticking by your officials no matter what, they're human, they can blow calls.
It's not the first time the league has admitted to a high profile officiating mistake. Because they're high profile they aren't internal problems.
Don't miss this.
*grin*
It's my understanding that the replay review is done by not just the official on the field, but the officials in the booth collaborating TOGETHER to make a decision. So it is not tjust the official on the field alone. Is this not true? If not, There should be a review team in the booth for assistance.

The other horrible call in that game was when they called a touchdown when the ball carrier fumbled the ball a full yard from the end zone, then the ball went out of the end zone.
These calls and the various pass interference calls, while bad, were all made at game speed.
The egregious calls in the Colts-Steelers game were made after relatively long consideration. They were not bad. They were not inept. They were dishonest.

Go Steelers....all the way to Detroit!!
Guys in the booth select shots for the ref to look at but it's the ref's call, now he is in communication with them and in theory they could contribute but it's his call. I don't think there should be a review team up top, games should be officiated by the guys on the field not some faceless guys seated in the wings.
Best to 'fess up when a mistake is made. The officials are human, and they make mistakes. That's why replay was brought in in the first place. IMHO.
LOL I agree...an appearance by the MotO is very apt. ; )
