Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And there are many paths to tread
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Whoops... went out to mess with the new... uh, cupholders.
But yes, have had ice like that. Not often here, but when it happens... its a real bugger.
Have also gotten to go out with a baseball bat and smack ice off the superstructure of an icebreaker... its a wonderful catharsis after weeks and weeks of messdeck duty. :-)

Goooooood morning!
It's a rainy blustery day here. But rain means the ambient temp is relatively warm and that means my heatless office is liveable. Yaaaay!
If it stays warm like this, I might pull a 2J and go plant some cold-weather crops in the garden. I'm itchin' for spring!

Yeah, we're having some wild windy rain out there this morning. Woke up with a start at 8am, and realized that Joseph hadn't gotten up so he was late for school. Went to wake him and he was just a blob, so he's staying home today. Am enjoying my first cuppa. ;o)

Well, I figure seeds are cheap, sis...and if the seedlings freeze, I still won't see my efforts as wasted...I spent some wonderful time with my husband and children out in the sun, the Oklahoma winds sanding my lips till who needs lipstick?
Still, I'll try to keep them alive with the row covers and cold frames.

The first set of twins, right? Not the ones that fought over grabbing Paula's hands.
Oh, didja see "I shot the sheriff...."? *laughing*

We were expecting a front to come through over the weekend...50% chance of rain. It came through and it didn't rain a single drop. The storms fired up way southeast of us.
There was an interview with a firefighter on the news that said even the soil, which has enough organic matter in it, will catch fire and burn. The dirt itself burns, even when no grass is present.

Yah the first set... those guys can sing.
There were some *really* scary people in there. I mean... I understand lots of people dream of being a big star and all that... but what were some of these people thinking? How can some of them live to adulthood under hideous illusions like that? Wow...

Dirt burns? Sheesh.
We had a thunderboomer come through last night. Woke me up out of dead sleep.
The power flickered on and off a few times, but didn't stay out for very long. Thank goodness.

It is amazing, isn't it?
The producers of the show have everyone go through some preliminary rounds before they stand in front of Simon, Paula and Randy.
So those weird people actually got through because they were so awful. :-/
I cannot believe they let the crazy dude through to Hollywood. I would have preferred the Ukranian chick who rolled around on the floor to Bohemian Rhapsody. :-D
