The Hobbit Hole XXVII - And there are many paths to tread...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 01/16/2006 6:56:15 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And there are many paths to tread

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Already had my coffee quota for the day.

I'm sipping hot spiced cider and watching the snow come down.

Yeah, I'll join you in a cup! We replaced our Cuisinart Thermal Carafe coffeemaker last week with a Zojirushi one. The coffee will stay hot for HOURS! The Cuisinart one kept the coffee hot, but had a bad incontinence problem. When we'd brew coffee, half the time the brew basket would get fouled up and coffee wouldn't go into the carafe; it would spill out of the brew basket and go all over the counter and floor! Annoying! So we got the Zo and it has been fantastic!

I may have to look in to one of those! I love carafes.

This is my favorite picture and caption from ShootMoot...I love the look on Rosie's face!

OT...we had flurries here, but nothing really worth mentioning. My garden is still covered up with the floating row covers though...

It snows for a few minutes off and on. It's pretty much melting as soon as it lands, though.

It's real overcast here and just really cold. The weather said it would clear, and it was first thing this morning, so I took the row covers off. The it got overcast and flurries started and I had to go back out there in the cold and cover everything up again!

Matthew wanted to come to the library, so that's where I am. So I went back and looked at ShootMoot...the pictures load faster here.

Afternoon Hair - Very happy to hear that Tweek is home and receiving some well deserved TLC. That medicine regime is a bit different for sure. OB & LSA

I just finished doing the bills.

Oh, joy.

I'm fixing to send Jospeh and Clare out to gather firewood. I'm going to have them bring a big batch into the basement, so it won't get completely hidden under the snow.

Huh...I've never had to use a syringe for medication before! Sounds tricky.

Glad she's home, though! I hope she recovers in a more satisfactory way from now on!

Mmm...good times!

I'm just packing my coffee maker up. *snif* Almost done with the packing, though the instruments and kitties won't go in until last minute.

We got lucky with the Zo. I checked Amazon.com and looked at the reviews for all the Thermal coffee makers. It had the best reviews and was half price! Great timing! ;o)

Did everyone get the furniture?

Mmm... ShootMoot... that was so great.

Admittedly I may be biased based on some of the events that followed ShootMoot, but...

Heh heh!!

I was just remembering how when we all went on a walk, you and Talon stayed behind and then I was struck by a bout of...ehem...upset stomach, so to speak and had to come barging in...

At least the gas bill was $100 less than last month's. Hurray for Global Warming!

Everything but the chair. That person never showed when they said they would, and hasn't responded to any messages since. :-\ I'm just gonna leave it behind and keep listing it on Craig's List. It's a hassle I'd rather not leave Jen to do, but I dunno how else to handle it.

Heh...the cats are actin' like little kids do in a big empty space - tearing around and making a ruckus. But as Jen pointed out, it's better to have 'em do it now than during the trip!

Miss Cat must have done that the other day. I came home and all the throw rugs were askew.

Hehe... that was fine, we were just chatting, there was no barging in to do.
