The Hobbit Hole XXVII - And there are many paths to tread...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And there are many paths to tread

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Yeah you should be able to get a ton of mileage out of boots and the bike. Kinda jealous actually :P
I am thinking the tax refund will in part get me a new bike. Need a faster one before triathlon season.

Heh...don't be envious of my bike. It's...seen better days. Still, I had some nice little rides this summer. And maybe I can trick it out just slightly - get a used Judy fork or something like that. The frame isn't super light, but it's not bad.

Or do you mean you envy me 'cause I'm gonna be near the Cascades and all?

Mmm...boots.

I love my main hiking boots. I've had 'em since '97, and they just keep going, even though I wear 'em for regular daily use, too. Just stick a little Nikwax on them a few times a year and I'm good to go! They've hiked in three or four countries and at least three states. Lot of good memories.

AAAIEEEEEE!!!!

Must. Not. Watch. Clock.

I just realized I'm stopping by Walmart on the way home and there's a winter storm warning. What was I thinking?

Well, Tweek had to stay at the vets, they said she'd torn some of her sutures inside and has to be opened back up. I was right to bring her in, it would have herniated worse as time went on.

Hopefully she can come home fixed (and repaired too) tomorrow.

How bad do you want the 200 pack of TP and five-gallon jug of pickles?

Oh no...that stinks.

I'm glad you got her in before it got any worse! Why would sutures tear loose that easily?

I guess things like that happen from time to time, though, statistically speaking. Just unlucky that it had to be Tweek. :-\

I don't know... it was real swollen, that might have caused the sutures to tear.... could be it was a less than perfect job to begin with.

Poor thing hates bein' at the vets.

If that were all we'd needed, I'd just go find the Sears-Roebuck catalog.

Gotta get Luke's birthday present and there's company comin' fer the weekend.

That, and we're out of bread, milk, bananas...
