The Hobbit Hole XXVII - And there are many paths to tread...

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And there are many paths to tread

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

They said potential for 90 mph gusts at the coast and 35 foot breakers at the ocean... That might be worth a trip.

Won't be that bad inland where we are, but sill might see gusts to 60 at times they think.

We're in for a "cold" snap this week....temps where they're supposed to be instead of the nice 50's and 60's we've been getting. Hope my plants don't freeze.

Are you worried about any of your trees falling with all the rain you've been getting?

Have you got anything out there already that can't take a freeze? I noticed the other day there were bulbs coming up here.

I always worry, but trying not to talk too much about it - Don't frighten the guests, is my rule today :~D [I'll just let it eat my stomach]

Everyone else is still asleep.

Good morning!

Hoping to have the desk gone by the end of the day...but not due to winds. Eek!

I'm getting a little frustrated by people who want to pay used prices for furniture but then are shocked when it's used, though. I've answered an awful lot of e-mails from folks wanting to know if a desk that's probably at least twenty or thirty years old and likely quite a bit older is pristine. At the price I'm asking? No. Were you hoping to hit on a sucker? It's getting me all nervous.

We're not getting real high winds yet but the power keeps fluctuating and the lights blinking so we're gonna turn computers off.

The power's out at the beach house.... they're running generator up there.

Ha!

Back when I lived in Lyndonville (before I bought my house), the power went out allll the time. Lousy power company... I had dial-up and a laptop, so I actually did stuff like that a time or two. ;-)

Nah, he's got a plain old black one! It's warm, though, so that's what matters!

This year, the Girl Scouts aren't selling 'Samoas'. Our Council went with a different cookie baker, and they have something called 'Caramel Delites', which are supposed to be LIKE 'Samoas', but I don't think they are as good. Other folks must like them, though, cause they were the biggest seller after the Thin Mints last year. What they DO have though, is a "Thanks a Lot", which is like a shortbread circle, coated on the bottom with dark chocolate. Wow are they good! They also have a new low fat, no trans-fat Oatmeal-Cinnamon cookie called 'Cartwheels', that are vey good, as well.

The girls sold over $250 worth of cookies just this morning. They positioned themselves just outside the doors of a local credit union, just on the edge of the portico. That area was just beside the drive in line, so they sold a bunch from folks going inside the bank AND those in the drive thru lane!
