I forgot who brought it up, but the seat cooler idea is already on the way. One of my coworkers went to a focus group for Dodge. One of the options they had them test and comment on was called "cool-seat". He said it worked pretty well, but of course couldn't get into the details.

They started out with even more junk than I think I'll be dealing with - car carcasses and piles of old farm equipment and destroyed sheds and such.

I've always wanted to plant flowers in an old toilet. VEY redneck! ;o)

Yep, there's that. And it hadn't even occurred to me that I could always just call someone in if I had a problem and deduct it from rent or get reimbursed somehow. That's not a big deal, and I can ask him about that if a problem comes up, I guess.

I'd much rather have a landlord that lets me be independent than one who hovers like a mother hen and doesn't trust me even so. *shudder* Still speaking of my old landlord. That wasn't fun.

That and using tires as planters...see that a lot back home. Usually painted white.

I prefer the old bathtub planter to the toilet one. Better bang for the buck.

There's a place down the street that's made a flower box out of an old brass bed frame. It's a flower bed.

Tires are good for potatoes here... cuz they get warm in the sun... so I've heard.

I remember seeing that a lot when we'd travel up into VT and NH when we'd go camping.

There was someone that did that a few streets over from my house back home. It really did look neat! Made me do a double-take the first time I saw it, but they kept it full of nice bright flowers and it worked great, IMO.

Arrrgh.

Had some email weirdness tonight. In moving an old mailbox from and old mail server to a new one... some ~really old~ (some almost 10years old) mail ended up being re-scanned by the antivirus system. Had file types that are now banned by the system (.exe, .lnk... yadda yadda) and some stuff that maybe hadn't even been scanned before. Way before my time.

So... the system does its job and sends a notification to sender and recipient letting them know their mail was quarantined.

Unfortunately... the recipient address in many cases was the all-company distro list. Dozen or more cases...

Oh, fertheluvva... Scary automated spam going to everybody... what a nightmare.

Had to send out a "remain calm... " followup.

Why, oh why, do we let people keep ten year old email?

[sigh]

Just a quick note to everyone that I was invited back to a meeting of the Michigan Military Moms tonight. After a bit of talking (they heard most of my spiel last time), they presented me with an envelope with a thank-you card in it, and $300+ in cash. They said the money came from skipping gifts to each other at their Christmas party.

I'll scan the card, and post it at the site. Just remember, they only know "Rick", but the sentiments go out to all you folks, too.
