The Hobbit Hole XXVII - And there are many paths to tread...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 01/16/2006 6:56:15 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And there are many paths to tread

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

*sigh*

I couldn't quite bring myself to do stuff like that. And it was all downhill from there.

Again, I guess it doesn't matter. But I woulda liked to have felt good about it despite everything.

Freezing up can happen to anyone. Of all the times to do it that was the perfect one. So no worries :D

Just hurts my pride to do so much worse than I know I'm capable of, ya know?

Oh well...we have X-Files and will be getting pizza in a bit. Life is pretty good, I'd say. And hey, that was the one last thing that coulda kept me here, so now I can pursue my destiny without qualm. ;-)

I guess stuffed toys were not high on Saddam's priority list.

I've thought asking my friend's daughter about sending our kids' old Beanie Babies to her so the guys and gals in the Stryker brigade can give them to the kids they encounter. I imagine if we did some sort of drive here in town we could get thousands of them!

No X-Files here, but pizza's on its way. Just a plain ol' medium cheese for tonight. *smile*

Decided to wait until after dinner to bathe Alyson. She practically gives herself a bath when she eats pizza.

Tomato sauce from forehead to chin and ear to ear. :-P

My "nephew" is like that with spaghetti. After one particularly energetic supper, a 2-inch noodle fragment, becrimsoned with sauce, was stuck to his forehead.

*laughing*

She's got pizza sauce in her hair as I type.

Off to bathe her now.

Heh, I guess not! Went to Daddy's Junky music and got a box to ship SirKit's Fender guitar to David. He started playing around with it when he was home for Christmas. He'd played piano when he was in high school, but never picked up the guitar.

No! Never that!

The local pizza place is good and they don't have any buzzing, clanging, whistling or screeching to deal with.

I'm not a big fan of lots of toppings. Plain cheese hit the spot tonight. :-D
