The Hobbit Hole XXVII - And there are many paths to tread...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 01/16/2006 6:56:15 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And there are many paths to tread

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I'm not really here. Too much work to justify it.

In Jack Bauer's America, warrants aren't necessary when national security is involved.

Sometimes, all that's needed is a hacksaw and a bowling ball bag ...!

Nah .. DeVane is just her daddy ...

I hope he's back, too ... it was nice to see a SecDef with a gun in his hand.

A really robust defense of Jack Bauer's America starts with and is maintained by the lone cowboy diplomat with a .45 caliber "big stick" in his/her hand ...

Maybe you're foie gras...

Although the literal translation from French is "fat liver," foie gras is the term generally used for goose liver. This specialty of Alsace and Perigord is, in fact, the enlarged liver from a goose or duck that has been force-fed and fattened over a period of four to five months. These specially bred fowl are not permitted to exercise, which, combined with the overeating, creates a huge (up to 3 pounds), fatty liver.

OK - I'm still waiting here for a follow up, and I can't find a way to read that as remotely friendly. Am I missing something?

I'm partial to liverwurst, myself.

Liverurst and cream cheese sandwiches, wih mustard and mayo and sweet pickle relish.

Ooooo, soooo yummy!

I think it was supposed to be an upgrade from plain liver. I'd ask her, but she went out fer a bit.

I wasted most of a morning tagging a bunch of MP3s that had no information. Heh...it was bugging me!

I only like liverwurst about once a decade - it just gets old real fast - but I do like liverwurst and cream cheese sandwiches once in a great while. Dad used to have them sometimes.

I admit, I kinda have to avoid thinking about what it is and what the liver *does* if I'm gonna eat the stuff...

Liverwurst is a big deal in my family. When my mother was young, she and her (triplet) brother would go to a restaurant where they served liverwurst and onion sandwiches.

I could never get into the onion, but when I was in school I would get liverwurst and cream cheese sandwiches in my lunch pail. Oddly enough, no one would ever swap sandwiches with me!

Nowadays, when I make myself a liverwurst sandwich, DaBear runs around screaming "Ipecac! Ipecac!"

Nah. For foie gras, they nail the goose's feet to a board, or at least they used to.

I didn't care ... liverwurst is made from pig's liver.
