The Hobbit Hole XXVII - And there are many paths to tread...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 01/16/2006 6:56:15 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And there are many paths to tread

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

It's not ~unlike~ the Janis Joplin "Cheap Thrills" cover (or lack thereof), but it was later than that and not ~quite~ as revealing.

Heh. Yeah, there are two girls at the clinic, not even out of their teens yet, that are freshly married and thinking they've got the world by the tail. Kind of scary, really.

Then there's the type of guy that we had come in a few months back. He sat there while his dog was being examined and made comments about female doctors. Hello? He was talking to *two* female doctors! It was... difficult to remain polite, especially after being looked up and down and told that I was going to make some man very happy someday with my 'book learning and all that money'. *GWAR* I smiled politely through my gritted teeth and charged him more.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, his dog was a little white Maltese. Oh *YEAH*. *THERE'S* a macho guy's dog.

We plan to see the New World, as well.

Ugh. Don't bother. Wait for it to come out on Sundance channel. We almost left - others in the theater did. It'll take me a bit to collect my thoughts and put together a decent review but my overall impression is this: a poorly edited, low-budget, artsy-fartsy film school senior project.

HA! You should have some leaflets made up for guys like those.

Just tuck one discreetly into the envelope with their invoice.

Considering how ~ many ~ candles would be on it, that particular scene would be difficult to do. :-)

Wow, thank you very much for the review; looks like we'll just have popcorn and freep at home tonight, instead of going to the movies.

We would have left except that we were sitting in the middle of a full row of people and my inlaws aren't too steady on their feet.
