Ace Young - "Butterfly" by Michael Jackson

Singing George Michael and Michael Jackson songs isn't going to help Ace with the "light in the loafers" rap he's getting.

ROFLMAO!

Also, hope you are feeling better today.

Thank you! It's some kind of horrible cold that is going around.

(Bucky) If he stinks, he'll go home. If he does okay, Covais will go home.

I think it'll be Bucky and Pee Wee this week. Or Pee Wee and Wonder Years. But definitely Pee Wee.

Will Makar - "How Sweet It Is" by James Taylor

Bad song choice. Too safe and will probably be boring.

Taylor Hicks - "Taking It To the Streets" by Michael McDonald

Not going to hold my breath for this to be great. Doubt it will wow anybody.

Gedeon McKinney - "When a Man Loves a Woman" by Percy Sledge

Good song choice. He will probably have another good week.

Kevin Covais - "Vincent" by Don McLean

Oh brother. Well, he will need a phenomenal rendition to survive.

Chris Daughtry - "Broken" by Seether

Should be interesting. Slow song. Gonna try a 'power ballad style'???

Ace Young - "Butterfly" by Michael Jackson

Doubt this will go anywhere. Hope he leaves soon.

Elliott Yamin - "Heaven" by Bryan Adams

Not familiar with the song, at least don't recognize it by the title. I think he can survive even if its a mediocre performance.

Sorry, don't have Bucky Convington's song.

Needs something big, doubt he'll pick a good one.

I'm disappointed with most of these choices and can only wonder what other songs are on the list that, that wouldmake them choose these.

I'm going to expect the worst and hope to be pleasanly surprised.

As an aside, I saw an interview with Gedeon on the tv guide channel and I got to thinking. Maybe he has the mustache to draw attention away from his teeth. I know we all have commented on his guhe smile and find it creepy, but without the mustache, it might be even worse. At least he has nice teeth. Imagine if he had that huge smile with a bunch of crooked, ugly teeth.

HEAVEN

Oh - thinkin' about all our younger years
There was only you and me
We were young and wild and free

Now nothin' can take you away from me
We been down that road before
But that's over now
You keep me comin' back for more

Baby you're all that I want
When you're lyin' here in my arms
I'm findin' it hard to believe
We're in heaven
And love is all that I need
And I found it there in your heart
It isn't too hard to see
We're in heaven

Oh - once in your life you find someone
Who will turn your world around
Bring you up when you're feelin' down

Ya - nothin' could change what you mean to me
Oh there's lots that I could say
But just hold me now
Cause our love will light the way

N' baby you're all that I want
When you're lyin' here in my arms
I'm findin' it hard to believe
We're in heaven
And love is all that I need
And I found it there in your heart
It isn't too hard to see
We're in heaven

I've been waitin' for so long
For something to arrive
For love to come along

Now our dreams are comin' true
Through the good times and the bad
Ya - I'll be standin' there by you

I agree with you on everyone but Katherine. She's got a good voice but all the appeal of toast. We've never really seen Katherine come through at all. She needs to start showing some personality.

I have to say I disagree with you about Ayla. I would characterize Lisa as "dead weight" before I'd ascribe that to Ayla.

Well most of the show was dead weight last night, LOL

Ayla's song was okay, it's her personality that I don't really like. Simon has called her "robotic" more than once and I think that's accurate.

Ayla and McPhee suffer from "good girl" syndrome -- the all-pervading awareness that they are PERFORMING IN FRONT OF THEIR PARENTS! AACK!

You nailed it :) I think that's what's holding both of them back, especially McPhee, who I believe would be really fun to watch if she just loosened up a little. (She tried mighty hard to loosen up last night :)

But Lisa? So far ... so generic

Yep. These teenage singers are almost always dull, IMO. They're too cutesie. Gives me a toothache.

I think these judges give the kids mixed messages.

1) They get a list of approved songs to choose from. Don't want them singing Bette Midler, don't put it on the list.

2) They tell them to take chances and not play it safe. A few of the women did and they got stomped on.

3) They get on their cases for giving wooden performances then whine when they sing performance songs. And, just what was Chris' song last week but a performance song?

------

Excellent points!

Ace Young - "Butterfly" by Michael Jackson

Oh. My. He is just like Zachery who complained people thought he was a girl. He dressed like a girl, talked like a girl, and probably peed sitting down like a girl.

People think Ace is gay, so what does he do? Trot out a couple of pictures of his girlfriend, but sings Michael Jackson and George Michael songs. Who wants to bet Elton John will be next week? After that will be a medley from "Cabaret".

I googled up Vincent lyrics since I don't recall that song. This is a dumb question but does it have anything to do with that TV series Beauty and the Beast? Wasn't the Beast's name Vincent? I just don't get this song and I actually fear Chicken Little doing it.

Taylor--Difficult to say on this one. The song has energy but it strikes me as a soul-less energy. Taylor needs to let Gedeon pick his songs for him.

Hey! What a great idea!! Let them draw names and pick songs for each other. Can't be any worse. :) Could be fun.

I think it's from the 70's. It is his only hit aside from American Pie.

I recognize the song after seeing the lyrics...it's about Vincent VanGogh. Starry night was a famous painting and there's other references, like to his sanity.

Hi, Wolfstar :)

If everything else about Mandisa was identical to what we have seen these last few weeks, but she weighed around 120 pounds, there is no doubt she'd be the frontrunner to win this competition.

Definitely. But even as things are, I think Mandisa has earned a recording career for herself, no matter what happens on Idol. She is by far the most likable of the ladies, and I admire how she doesn't let her weight control her while she's singing--she was shaking that butt all over the stage last night LOL!

Idol is lucky to have her, and to their credit, I think they know it.

the Gherkin. I echo everyone else's comments about her hick-from-the-backwoods act getting very old ... I hated Simon's comment that he likes Pickler better than "last year's winner."

I agree, that was completely unnecessary and served no purpose other than to belittle Carrie, a young lady who is representing herself and this show VERY well. Simon should apologize. But he won't.

BTW, did you have a chance to click the link above your post? Vote For The Worst did a hit-piece on the Gherkin. 90% of it is here-say, but a lot of what they say backs up our suspicions.

http://www.votefortheworst.com/pickler.html

She is the female equivalent of Justin Guarini

OUCH! LOL

Ooooooh yeah. Starry night. I get it. Great snakes! Now I'm really scared. Poor Chicken Little! I can't stand it!
