Sway was tired and wanted to go home. Said he missed his family and the grind was getting him down.

The life of the musician is hard. Carrie Underwood said how much she missed her family due to the travel schedule.
Frankly he is in a tough spot. They are going to run his ass everywhere and if he refuses stuff then they could sue him for breach of contract. If his family situation looks to be in jeapordy I wouldn't blame him for stepping out. Some of us out there would respect the decision.

Heads up you fans of "Gray" Charles out there. Taylor Hick's CD has reached an auction record high of $69.00 at eBay.
If you're curious as to what it contains, here is a description of one of the many Taylor Hicks CDs being sold on eBay (one day left on auction already 19 bids and the price as of this writing is $56.00 ) :
Description (revised)
Item Specifics - Music: CDs
Genre: Pop Album Type: Full-Length CD
Sub-Genre: 2000-Now Condition: Used
Taylor Hicks' first ever CD "In Your Time" There were only a small amout of these pressed and it'll be hard to find another one out here. This was recorded in 1999 or 2000 and has a great version of "Georgia" 1. Son of a carpenter 2. The Fall 3. In Your Time 4. Somehow 5. On Broadway 6. Tighten Up 7. Georgia. ** This is a NR auction because I do not have artwork and there are a few scratches on the CD (but it's perfectly playable)
Unfreakin' believable. He hasn't been on TV for more than 20 minutes and people are acting as if he's going to be the next Elvis and actually "investing" in his future ( probably hoping to be able to sell the same CD in future for more money ). And note --- this CD only has 7 songs !!
I guess the Google stock frenzy also affects ordinary music fans. This is like people anticipating the next Van Gogh and buying into his presently obscure paintings.

The other thing about Idol which isn't the norm in modern entertainment is that it is clean, fun family fare. The whole family can get together, watch it, pick their favorites and vote. Everybody from first graders to grandparents can get into it. That's a very rare quality in a TV show (or movie) these days.
You are 100 percent right. I enjoyed the show last night with seeing Carrie and her singing Jesus at the wheel. That is definitely pretty awesome in these times and days with the direction of the entertainment business. The only difficult part of American Idol is seeing the people being voted off. I mean even if some of them deserved it, it is still sad, but even the worst singer in the group still had a great opportunity in the end.

Another thing is that the put through so many kids who are 17 and under. If they don't want it to be American Teen Idol then make it 19 and over. If they are going to look for young kids then for crying out loud, quit ripping them to shreds in front of a national audience. They have great courage even being up there to begin with.

I just received this info from a friend who watches the show... it seems Taylor Hicks could be one of us ( i.e., a patriotic conservative ) :
Just came across this on a blog:
"Taylor is the soul of America. This is what I personally fight for in the army. Taylor has lifted everybody spirts at home and oversees, he represents America, pure, simple, and soulful. I just want to say thank you to Taylor, he has giving most soldiers a new hope oversees and I wish him the best of luck. For us its hard to find something to fight for, especially those of us who dont have families, for me its people like Taylor who understands and feels what he is doing.
Thanks Taylor and dont change, you have the troop's support
John
Turns out Taylor supports the military too. Read how he sent his cd out to a military couple stationed in Germany because they wrote that they liked his Las Vegas audition. It was on their blog, not something HE made public. When they mentioned it, their bandwidth skyrocketed with people googling his name and coming to the website. So they edited out his name to TH.

How do you know the exact # of votes? Do they put them up on the website? That's not votes, its busy signals. Can't even say how accurate it is.
