for Tammy
She was over-the-top loopy, even by her sotted standards. Cackling, yelping, flopping back and forth between Randy and Simon. Ryan tried to play it off but clearly felt awkward and embarassed. It really has to end.
Both Hoffs and Gibson were legitimate big-time 80s/early 90s stars in their own right, and from all I hear well balanced, mature and successful women still today. I had the biggest crush on both, leaning more towards Susanna. Either would be great for the show, as they know the biz and have more class in their bra snaps than Paula does in her entire seat cushions.
BTW, Susanna Hoffs has definite possiblities :)
Ryan asked Paula which of the two guys who were left ( Chicken Little or Sway) should be the next to go, and she couldn't even hold her head up or open her eyes. She just giggled and muttered stuff under her breath and tried to grab on to Simon. Her eyes had the strangest look to them tonight, kind of like those people in the movie "Dune" who were hooked on that sand stuff...
Gibson has been overused, IMO. She was just on that dumb Skating with Celebrities show. But I still have a latent crush on Hoffs from 1989 :)
The key moment was when Ryan asked her a question and she said something totally incoherent and then just trailed off... the camera stayed on her for a second and you could literally see Simon trying to steady her. Then it switched to Ryan and he was just standing there opened mouth with a total deer in the headlights look, Ryan tried to recover but actually said on air "Well, That was awkward."
Wow. I can almost visualize that :o
It was very pathetic. I'm thinking she's not going to be around much longer. Maybe she's throwing the gig like Katherine is doing.... : )
Me too - I was smitten with Hoffs and I'm sure that would rekindle if she (hopefully) came on the show. Also, the Bangles were great and their music holds up well in comparison to some other 80s girl bands (ie Bananarama)
LOL! I'm sorry I missed that--seriously. That's what makes the live shows exciting--the possibility of a total Paula meltdown :)
Haha--didn't they only have one hit? "I'm Your Venus" or something?
I'd take the Hoff and the Bangles over Belinda Carlisle and the Go-Gos anyday.
Trust me tonight was neither exciting or funny, this time Paula truly went over the line IMO.
This was the moment akin to the moment we have all had where a HS friend who did stupid things that everyone thought was funny finally gets to the point where it is not funny anymore. We have all been there with someone in our lives, where it finally just got to the point where you had to say enough is enough.
Tonight was that point. I honestly do not see how they can come on the air next Tuesday and act like nothing happened. It was literally that bad.
Chris is one of those guys who benefitted greatly with a band behind him. I wasn't crazy about his Hollywood and acapella auditions, but it was obvious he had a voice. The judges have correctly indicated that he has a great "recording" voice. Its got identity.
His ability to choose songs is massive in this competiton. Nothing gets you bounced faster than a bad choice, because you reach a point in the contest where everyone can pretty much deliver a tune.
Everyone of Daughtry's performances with the band have been memorable.
I will grant you that this guy wasn't going to make the top rounds, and I thought the "pimpy" gig last week with the carjack hat and velvet jacket was hard on the eyes.
But he can flat out sing better than those two assclowns who finished with him in the bottom three. He already has a CD out somewhere.
He deserved another week.
Singing is important, but so is likability. Sway wasn't likable, IMO.
Pee Wee deservedly was in the bottom three--the only thing that saved him was his personality.
If they asked me if I thought I was in the bottom three, I'd tell them not to exclude the absentee military votes.
Absolutely. And the only way Sway was likeable was if anyone considered a combination of Imperial Japanese Admiral Yamamota and Huggy Bear from Starsky and Hutch to be a hot lick.
Paula was wasted. What on earth was she babbling about a cornflake and a melon???
