for Tammy
Thank you, Jonny. Maybe what I ought to do is talk about Junior's rejects, LOL!
Stevie Scott was sick -- was she one of the singers during the Hollywood round who made the same excuse? I don't remember. As for Bobby, at least he seemed to be taking it in stride, while Patrick is making excuses. Simon was right about him, decent voice, but zero charisma. He simply didn't stand out.
Yes, I agree. Above all, AI demands versatility. It will be interesting to see how versatile Taylor can be. The rocker, Chris, is also an intriguing singer who mayhe stretched when he has to do other genres.
If that's the case then I am even more disappointed. His album is cookie cutter pop-rock and completely unoriginal.
Actually, I thought he sounded better than Stevie. He was that good. I can see why Simon made the remark he did!
I'll refrain from posting to either of you in the future.
Eric Clapton, too. 'My Father's Eyes', or 'River of Tears' to name a couple. imo
What you see is what you get. I was just too lazy to type it all out. LOL

Described as a soul singer, Taylor Hicks is known for setting "soul fires" from panhandle Florida honkey-tonks to the modern day chitlin-circuit of the old South. He's entertained with high profile artists such as James Brown, Tom Petty, Jackson Browne, Drive by Truckers, and Robert Randolph. Taylor is currently collaborating with contemporary blues legend Keb Mo.
UPDATE: Taylor Hicks is featured on the current season of American Idol. As of this writing, he is still part of the show. His CD "Under the Radar" is available at Laser's Edge Compact Discs . Or call Charlemagne Record Exchange at (205) 322-5349.
Taylor Hicks originally appeared on Tapestry, WBHM's locally produced arts and culture program, in December of 2005. Tapestry airs Thursday nights at 6:30 p.m. The current week's show is available as a podcast here and through iTunes. Additionally, past Tapestry programs are archived at WBHM.orgInterview with Taylor Hicks
Mandisa will probably be around for a while.
Mandisa Hundley, A Gospel Singer On American Idol 5
She told the judges to just call her Mandisa, but her full name is actually Mandisa Hundley. Mandisa is a 28 year old female from Antioch, Tennessee, and she is an experienced Gospel singer. For her audition, Mandisa sang Falling, and Simon Cowell said she was everything I hoped you would be. Mandisa received a unanimous yes vote from all three judges.
Mandisa Hundley was born in Sacremento, California and moved to Tennessee to get her degree in vocal performance from Fisk University. She was a member of the Fisk Jubilee Singers. Some of the artists that Mandisa has performed with include Shania Twain, Trisha Yearwood, Take 6, Larnelle Harris, and Willie Neal Johnson & the Gospel Keynotes.
Mandisa has also performed with Integrity Music and Don Moen. Her website listed several recordings that she can be heard on: Don Moens Thank You Lord and Sandi Pattis Hymns of Faith Songs of Inspiration, and Travis Cottrells Beloved Disciple and The Deep. Mandisa was also the worship leader for the 2004 LifeWay Christian Womens Conventions held in Orlando, San Diego, and San Antonio.

As an aside, if you like Gospel music, recall two season ago, the contestant George Huff? He has a gospel CD out.
OOOhhh. Forgot about Eric Clapton. Good call. That brings to mind Steve Winwood and Cream and Traffic and Blind Faith... : ) The Return of 70's Rock! Hell Yeah!
Ok... plans change... looks like I will be around this week.
She clearly sounded better on her "swan song", but it was still a very bad choice.
That will be very cool.....but it wouldn't surprise me to hear the judges say he needs to branch out....;-)
He can sing anything he wants, as long as it will erase "Copacabana" from my mind, where it has played repetitively over thae past week.
Don't you just hate it when a bad song gets stuck in your mind?
Thanks for that blurb on Mandisa. I think she is the dark horse candidate to win this year. I can't wait to hear whatever she will be singing this week.

I have one more Spoiler to add to the list:
Bucky Covington - Garth Brooks, When the Thunder Rolls
I woke up this morning to a few questions in my email box. I'll try to clarify. First, here is the list I posted last night:
Ayla Brown - a Celine Dion song
Will Makar - "Lady" - by Lionel Richie
Ace - "If You're Not the One" - by Daniel Bedingfield
David Radford - "The Way You Look Tonight" - Standard, by Frank Sinatra and others, recently done by Rod Stewart
Taylor Hicks - "Easy" - by The Commodores, I believe
Will's song "Lady"--Lionel Richie wrote the song "Lady" the Kenny Rogers hit. He recorded it in 1998. The information you see posted regarding Will's song choice is the information I was given. Some of you are wondering if the song is Lionel's hit "Once, Twice, Three Times a Lady" I don't think so, but I will attempt to get clarification on that.
Taylor's song, "Easy"--I posted, "by the Commodores, I believe." I'm not 100% sure on that, hence the "I believe" qualification tacked on the end. I'm working on clarifying that as well. Also, I realize there was something completely different posted on the "Soul Patrol", but in my experience, I've found spoilers posted on message boards to be wrong more often than not.
LOL! Grey Charles...
Yeah! There's a lot of people he could do and be good at it!
