I'm surprised there are no prostitution arrests.

Yeah, but how hard up do you have to be to hit that?

They haven't had a Japanese ethnic in the past two seasons that I've been watching, that's why I think the girl will get slotted in.

"The 16-year-old with pigtails"

Someone called her Pippi Longstocking, but I would call her Lolita. Why do I get the feeling that this one is going to be trouble in Hollywood?

Man! This show is incredibly successful! 35 million for last weeks show. I watched last nights show from SF and was almost brought to tears by the girl whose mother was a singer and a voice coach. Does anyone remember her name?

Hi :)

I didn't mean to sound like I was making excuses for the stalker. He's clearly a sleaze.

Mrs. kevkrom suggests that GIC stand for "gender-identity crisis" rather than "gender-identity-challenged".

How about "Gench" for "gender-challenged"? :) But GIC is easier to type.

That should have been "Whale tails" :)

I'm sure those whale tails have a tale to tell :)

There will be three more audition shows, from Las Vegas, Austin and Boston.

The "Hollywood" phase begins Wednesday, February 8.

I know. :-)

I didn't take your comments that way at all. It's just that many people are unaware how little privacy we have anymore, and how easy it is to find out stuff using the internet.

As for when the real meat of the competition starts, it's probably better to work backwards. The finals go over 11 weeks (eliminations of #12 through #2), and with 24 semi-finalists, I expect we'll be seeing 3 weeks of semis. That means 14 weeks, including the final week. That means Valentine's day if the finale is the week of May 16, or Feb. 21 if the finale is the following week. The finals won't start until the first 9or second) week of March.

It's getting so we need a math degree to figure this show out. ;-)

Thanks for the info! I really don't get involved in the show until the Hollywood phase. But I do think there were more fall-on-the-floor-funny moments this year than last year (i.e. "I shot the sheriff"; Paris, Jr; the 'stuning' Rhonetta).

'American Idol' soars in second week ('Commander-in-Chief' to another low)
The losers on “American Idol” have been real winners for Fox. The show continues to earn its highest ratings in its fifth season.

At 9 p.m. Fox led again, this time with a 16.8 average for the second hour of “Idol.” CBS was second with a 3.4 for a repeat of “CSI: Miami,” NBC third with a 2.9 for an hour of “Scrubs” and ABC fourth with its 2.2 for “Commander” [New Episode].

Terrell and Derell are NOT going tyo Hollywood:

Twin "Idol" Wannabes Booted
By Sarah Hall (Yahoo News)

Fox has dashed Terrell and Derrell Brittenum's dreams of becoming the next American Idols.

The 28-year-old identical twin brothers were "uninvited" from the competition after their criminal records became public fodder, their lawyer said.

"It was an amicable breakup," attorney Maurice Bennett said on an Atlanta radio station. "The guys understood why. It's amazing how these things work."

The Brittenums made their mark on American Idol during the first episode of the fifth season, when they wowed the judges at the Chicago auditions and earned passes to Hollywood.

But the Tennessee natives' brush with glory turned out to be short-lived, as the brothers soon landed behind bars on charges that they used another man's identity and financial information last June to purchase a 2005 Dodge Magnum in Atlanta. Both Brittenums refused extradition to Georgia, which led to additional charges against them.

Fox has remained mum on whether the brothers would be seen in future episodes of the talent search. However, the New York Post reports that the network put the kibosh on a planned live performance by the Brittenums Wednesday night on MSNBC's Scarborough County, indicating that they are probably still under contract.

According to Bennett, both brothers were released from jail on bond Sunday morning and were preparing to travel to Los Angeles for the next round of eliminations when they received word that their presence was no longer welcome.

For everyone on the AI thread who is sick of all the gay guys on the show this year:

JOSH GRACIN

You know him as the season two Marine who viewers feared might be called to serve in Iraq.

These days Josh -- awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals and honorably discharged from the military in 2004 -- is a rising country music star with two #1 hits. He is the opening act on Trace Adkins' Honky Tonk Badonkadonk tour, which kicked off Jan. 19. This is Josh's first major tour, and I know all FReeper AI fans wish him well. He and wife Ann Marie are now parents of two: son Landon joined daughter Briana, 3, in August.

Josh has also used his celebrity to help tell the story of the American Armed Forces. Oo-Rah!

He has written a song about Billie Grimes, active duty medic who is from Lebanon, Indiana. She was on the front cover of Time Magazine. She gave life-saving aid to two reporters and a soldier after a grenade was tossed through the window of their Humvee.

Josh performing his song about Billie for the troops at Camp Atterbury.
