for Tammy
Emily, thank you SO much for your kindness. I needed a bit of kindness from someone today.
Sorry, Wolfstar, if you were miffed by my post.
Last year we had two Idol threads...jonny's happy and upbeat thread, and another one for deconstructing the program and exposing all the nasty games that go on behind the scenes.
But if everyone else wants that on this thread, too, I'm amenable.
Not miffed at you, Palladin. Miffed at Cowell, Lythgoe and the AI honchos and lashing out just a bit. No need to have the backstage stuff here as far as I'm concerned. There were two separate threads today about the older twins from this week's auditions. Both have been in trouble with the law. As far as I'm concerned, that stuff can stay on the separate threads.
You always have a home here, Wolfstar. You're one of the cornerstones of the thread.
'Idol' twins charged with forgery, theft in Georgia car purchase
Thank you so much, Jonny. Please don't worry. I was just furious with Simon and the AI honchos, and took some of my anger out where I shouldn't have. I apologize for that.
You know what I wish. If Josh Gracin's next album is bigger than his first and he becomes a bona fide Country superstar, I wish Cowell would stand in front of a microphone somewhere and whine that Josh needs to let AI used his songs.
Note to Cowell and Lythgoe: Don't mess with the Marine.
LOL! That would be particularly sweet, knowing how Simon over criticized Josh during the competition. Who's laughing now, Simon? :)
Count me in as one who thinks what you said about the entire "controversy" makes a lot of sense. Don't you dare go anywhere! ; )
Thank you StrictTime. Sigh. I just allowed myself to get too angry at Cowell and company, and took a bit of it out here where I shouldn't have. Not to worry. All is well.
GRAMMY NOMINEES ALBUM TO BENEFIT HURRICANE RELIEF THROUGH MUSICARES
Sony BMGs Strategic Marketing Group To Release Compilation This Tuesday
January 19, 2006This years 2006 Grammy Nominees CD, released through Sony BMG's Strategic Marketing Group, hits retail on Tuesday (1/24), with a portion of proceeds from the sale of the CD to benefit the MusiCares and Grammy Foundations, which in turn, will be earmarked for Hurricane Katrina relief.
The 21 tracks represent nominees from several different categories, including Gorillaz ("Feel Good Inc.), Green Day ("Boulevard of Broken Dreams"), Mariah Carey ("Its Like That"), Paul McCartney ("Fine Line"), U2 ("City of Blinding Lights"), Rascall Flatts ("Bless the Broken Road"), Bruce Springsteen ("Devils & Dust"), John Legend ("Ordinary People"), Jack Johnson ("Sitting, Waiting, Wishing"), Seal ("Walk on By"), Rob Thomas ("Lonely No More"), Stevie Wonder ("From the Bottom of My Heart"), Kelly Clarkson ("Since U Been Gone"), Sheryl Crow ("Good is Good"), Coldplay ("Speed of Sound"), Foo Fighters ("Best of You"), The Rolling Stones ("Rain Fall Down"), Neil Young ("The Painter"), Beck ("E-Pro"), Death Cab for Cutie ("Soul Meets Body") and Franz Ferdinand ("Do You Want To").
I wish Cowell would stand in front of a microphone somewhere and whine that Josh needs to let AI used his songs.....
I wish he would admit he was wrong about his talent. He was always saying he wasn't that good IIRC. Only one time did Simon say good job to Josh and that was the night he performed the Garth Brooks song. I always liked Josh.
LOL! That would be particularly sweet, knowing how Simon over criticized Josh during the competition. Who's laughing now, Simon? :)
LOL, just wrote the same thing to Wolfstar at earlier post before reading yours.
*pause while I try to stop laughing* :)
I can understand why "Baby Mama" was omitted. To include that "song" on a benefit CD wouldn't benefit anyone :)
But it's odd that Fantasia wasn't included at all. She's Grammy nominated and she's attached to Sony BMG. Hmmm. And I don't see Kanye West on the CD either. Double-hmmmm.
Good morning, EG :)
Good recap of the Denver auditions :)
Hey jonny. sorry I had to post and run..but do you know if the AI website plays clips of the shows? I would love to see the cowboy kid and Zachary.....don't ask me why. I always have been interested in train wrecks. :)
Of all the guys so far on AI, Bo, Josh and Clay have been my favorites. With the exception of the exposure he received on the show, Josh owes squat to AI, and he sure doesn't owe Cowell anything.
Josh is making it on his own in Country music through determination and hard work. This year he's going to tour with one of Country's biggest stars. Trace Adkins, if memory serves (Jonny is that right, or was it someone else?). This is the next rung on the ladder up to true stardom for Josh and I hope he does extremely well. Not only will he make some serious money, but he'll be getting invaluable experience polishing his own talent.
Carrie's management is sending her out for her first tour this summer with a big country name. Rumor is it's Keith Urban, but that has not been confirmed anywhere I know about. As with Josh, the tour will be Carrie's next big step up.
So far, Bo's fragile health has held him back severely. His album has sold moderately well. It will be certified gold soon. But he has been almost completely unable to promote it, and in watching Kelly's career develop I've learned that promotion is everything in the music business.
Just the fact that Fantasia and Kanye West are not on the CD is enough to encourage me to buy it. There are several songs on it I really like, and I don't mind supporting the charitable purpose.
