Maroulis, who finished sixth on Idol, told PEOPLE last year that not winning the competition was the "best thing that's ever happened to me. I'm not cursed with that stigma of being the American Idol."

LOL! Sounds like he's trying to convince himself that's true. (And it probably still burns him that Scott Savol--of all people--stayed longer than he did :)

Word has it that not only was Paula wasted, she showed up 4 minutes before they went live last night.

Her chair had been removed is what I am told....

On that note, let me ask again for those who are just joining...Do you think they'll replace Paula? Who would you choose to take her place?

Wow-thanks for the insight! Wonder how they will explain her absence?

(Ace) "I've never been able to get to my fan base."

Teenage girls? Who else could he be talking about? :)

That was my thought, too.

You just brought the biggest grin to my face! :)

If they were to replace her, I think Debbie Harry from Blondie would be fun.

American Idol" hits new ratings high note

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The amateur pop singers of "American Idol" hit another ratings high note on Tuesday as Fox television's talent-contest sensation scored its biggest audience yet for a performance episode of the show.

A whopping 33.2 million viewers tuned in to watch the remaining 11 finalists sing for a shot at a recording contract and instant fame during the two-hour broadcast, Nielsen Media Research reported on Wednesday.

That tally was nearly 2 million viewers higher than the combined Tuesday night average posted by all five competing networks. And it surpassed last week's record audience for a performance episode on "American Idol," now in its fifth season.

It's hard to pick just one. I think West Side Story, Grease and Chicago are my favorites. "America" is my fav from WSS, "The One I Want" from Grease, and "Cell Block Tango" from Chicago.

Honorable mention goes to "Bali High" from South Pacific.

That's a good suggestion. My sis and I have been thinking...Pat Benatar or (this one is bizarre) Cher would be interesting. HA!

Here's pic of Eddie from around 15 years ago.

I linked it because it's large ... and kinda gross :)

Oo! Oo! What about Celine Dion! People will be longing for Paula after 45 seconds of listening to Celine.

Yes! They broke up last year. I guess they were rocky for a while, but she didn't want to leave him while he was going through cancer treatments.

They have a son named Wolfgang Van Halen. Doesn't it sound like he should live in a big creepy castle and fight vampires and werewolves?
