She's missing something.

Definitely. What's she's missing is charisma and an outgoing personality.

Was that dog drinking out of Paula's cup?

Grin...yep. That's why Pee Wee the dog looks the way he does.

They are going to Vegas this weekend to work with him is what I am now told. Since he has a cover album of 50's songs that's probably the angle.

I guess it makes sense.

I wonder where in Hoover. He is very close to me if he is in Hoover proper. You know, what was Hoover until it grew all those tentacles down to Shelby County and all over Jefferson County. Strange how we have had folks from Bham in the top 12 for 3 out of the last 5 years.

Let me amend my reply in 12,323 to say it makes sense only if Manilow does not coach them on what songs to pick. The list of songs on his "Greatest Hits of the '50's" are mostly snoozers for contemporary audiences.

It does include "Sincerely," which I think would be a hoot for our Little Girl from Dogpatch to sing. Here's the tunes in his album:

Moments To Remember
It's All In The Game
Unchained Melody
Venus
It's Not For Me To Say
Love Is A Many Splendored Thing
Rags To Riches
Sincerely/Teach Me Tonight
Are You Lonesome Tonight
Young At Heart
All I Have To Do Is Dream
What A Diff'rence A Day Made
Beyond The Sea

Where are the wonderful, youthful, energetic early rock-and-roll songs? Heck, I'd rather hear some of the great songs from "West Side Story" (a 1950's Broadway musical) than the stuff Manilow prefers to sing.

Underneath the too-long hair, Bucky is actually a pretty good-looking guy. He has really nice eyes and pleasant smile. If the makeover people would cut his hair to about chin length in back, a bit shorter around his face, I think it would be a good look for him.

With the 50's you can do some uptempo Jazz, some Do Wop, rock and roll and they could have some fun with it. Manilow is all about soupy, syrupy ballads and these singers don't need any more of that stuff. A lot of people have gone home for choosing those songs.

I have to wonder if the artists that are appearing to sing on the elimination nights are there to have a chance to pimp their music.

That's the only reason. I haven't done the research, but it's entirely possible they also come from the same label that puts out the Idol stuff.
