I just brought home a Premium Mitchell's Mauser with all the attachments for $400.00... anybody out there own a Mauser???
VERY NICE...!!! 30. or 9mm???
9mm though I would have prefered 45. Yup the Chinese made them in 45 during the boxer rebellion
and rare as hens teeth...
I like the Turkish stuff.......very hot! The Romanian is good stuff too. I think a sealed tin of the Romanian (400 rounds) goes for about $25 or thereabouts at some of the gun shows here in Virginia. The Yugo is good......the Ecuadoran surplus 8mm has had mixed reviews. If I were you....I might consider getting a shooter grade m48 for corrosive surplus. Maybe save that Mitchell from gettin' dinged-up at the range.
By the way, that intimidating steel buttplate on your rifle is refered to as a "skullcrusher"
As another poster noted these aren't dainty rifles and the entire package is a weapon.
Yer gonna love shooting this thing. Though I suggest you buy a lesser grade for shooting and put your premium grade one away
There should be Israli non corrosive 8mm surplus available if you look around though it may be on linked belts for use in the 1919 machine gun
i know the Yugo 9mm is hot Hot HOT!!!
i shot some of it once and all the primers were popping out little slugs where the firing pin hit them... i never bought any more.
if i can find a good deal on a shooter like people here have, i sure will.
thx... i'll look for it.
one MORE type of ammo to stock up on now...
Whoa fella. I'm just yankin' yer chain a little. I really didn't expect you to take me *any kind* of serious. :o(
I like it because my eyes are starting to find reading headstamps to be a bit more difficult than it used to be.
He can tell Lake City '94 from Lake City '96 much better than I can even when I do wear my glasses.

My helper is 12...my daughter. :-) She's GREAT help! People give kids far less credit than they deserve, but you MUST train them! In a short time, I taught her all the the basics and she likes hanging out with me. :-)
did you miss the ping in post #16 my Liege? i didn't fergit ya.
so, do you bolt... or are you boltless...???
i think Alice likes my Cat...

It's ALIVE!
Cool tag line PM !!
Thank you.
It was a gift.
...like they used in the olden days.
I guess this is what happened to the Thompson. It turned into a little BAR. A nice stocking stuffer for the active, sportsminded muttly.
Hey, I was poking around for info. on Mauser cartridges, amazing how much there isn't on the 10.75X57, 9.3x57, 9x57.
Squantos convinced me that we should only use cartridges that the dirtball who kills us won't be able to get any more of. Sounds like he's been talking to his twin brother Eaker, doesn't it. You have to go to sleep and wake up n' stuff or whatever pretty early in the morning to fool me anyway, I figure, so I figure I'll surprise everyone and just do it even though I know who the idea is from, and have my H-BAR rebarreled for either .219 Donaldson Wasp, .221 Fireball, .256 Winchester, or .218 Bee. I will carry only .32 S&W revolvers. Maybe 8mm Nambu or .44 Henry rimfire. That'll teach 'em.
It's like poisoning your own meat, for after they get 'ya. Well, it makes sense to me, which yes, does make me suspicious. I'm less dumb than I yam crazy...r' sumthin. I know I have it written down around here somewhere. Something like that, anyway. Technically.
Here. Try one of my handloads. They're great.
that'll fix-em...
i love the old ad in the Rifleman for Thompson with the Cowboy standing on his porch mowing down the Banditos both horse and rider alike...!!! 8^)
It was the Cowboy's Friend.
