In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
dubiety \doo-BY-uh-tee; dyoo-\, noun
1. The condition or quality of being doubtful or skeptical.
2. A matter of doubt.
Example sentences:
Kennedy and O'Connor may think that Title 3 has been violated, but O'Connor and the chief justice are not convinced that the Supreme Court was meant to litigate challenges under that federal statute, and their dubiety here is shared by Justices Scalia and Souter.
--Hadley Arkes, "A Morning at the Court," National Review, December 2, 2000
I want every inconsistency, every dubiety, every ambiguity left in.
--David Maclean, quoted in David Hencke, "Tories plot hunt bill dirty tricks," The Guardian, January 17, 2001
Etymology: Dubiety is from Late Latin dubietas, from Latin dubius, "doubtful, uncertain."
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

WFB's attempt to emulate us ; ) No pushing at the door please!
Found this on the Live thread
Keep the beads out of the reach of Biden, please.
I despise Jabba the Hut as much as I despise shrillary. Where is that lightning bolt and why won't it hit him while he's on camera?
exactly. and why has he not died from the way he has abused that corpulent slab of a body of his?
I can only surmise that he lives a miserable existence that is more punishment than an early exit. Hatch's voice keeps cracking in incredulity about fat eddie's screed.
ANYONE, other than the most brain dead partisan dem, would have to be incredulous at the stupidity of the line of questioning that they have been reduced to. anyone with an ounce of commonsense, be they politically inclined or not, could see it. the hairplug is up next?
biden is hairplug?? LOL
my brother, who is on a biztrip to CO/NM this week, and who is far from a political animal, emailed me about the Arleen-fat ted dust up of yesterday. he LOVED it.
Welcome aboard...........
No, his daughter is blonde. I can't figure out who she is, but she seems close to the family and very cool, collected and confident.
OMG, I am laughing so hard.
i think it may be his sister? i understood she was there as well, may also be a lawyer, am not sure.
Thank you, tioga.
You are my first welcome!
Welcome to WFTD! We post a thread every weekday and try to have fun while enriching our vocabulary and scanning current events. And welcome to Free Republic! It's a great site with all kinds of characters.
I'd like to kick each one of those dem senators in their "special purpose".
His sister is a lawyer.
I was happy to see the Word For The Day. At 49, I am entering college for the first time and realized just how "backward" I have become. WFTD will be enoyable for me.
