Texas QB Vince Young to enter NFL draft
Houston Chronicle ^ | 1/8/06 | JOSEPH DUARTE

Texas junior quarterback Vince Young plans to enter the NFL draft and forgo his final year of college, a close family friend said today. Young plans to make the announcement this afternoon at a press conference in Austin.

"He has the blessing of God, the pastor and his family," said Yolanda Lezine, Young's godmother and the family media's spokeswoman. "It's his decision. Everybody is going to support him a 110 percent."

Young capped off his career Wednesday night, rallying the Longhorns from a 12-point deficit in the fourth quarter to defeat two-time defending national champion Southern California, 41-38, in the Rose Bowl.

The Madison product will hire Bus Cook as his agent. Cook is also the agent for Tennessee quarterback Steve McNair, Young's mentor, and Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre.

yes I made some money over there.

SO WHAT?

That wasn't my sole reason for going over.

In fact, it was barely considered outside of the fact that I had changed companies to do it.

I guess you can't get past that.

Wheres's the thread? Did you chicken out?

I don't think I will.

I have class, or at least I try too in the open forum.

and I don't call into question, people's integrity consistently even AFTER being proven wrong.

Call yourself what you want. Just don't call Ohio State deserving of it's present ranking, or deserving of a number one ranking to start off the season next year. I just checked my records and have a correction to make on the Buckeye's strength of schedule this season. They defeated only one team ranked in the top 25, that team being an obviously over-ranked Notre Dame. This puts their quality win standing at number 14.

Since they've been voted number four, it seems to indicate that Ohio State gets credit it doesn't earn on the field of play. I wouldn't put them in the category of Notre Dame but along with USC they're not too far behind in the "sweetheart team of favor" department.

Reminds me of the old joke about the Texan that went to Harvard for his post-graduate and on his first day on campus stopped another student on the sidewalk and asked:

"Excuse me. Could you tell me where the library is at?"

"Young man," said the other student, "at Harvard we do not end our sentences with a preposition."

"Oh, sorry," said the Texan. "Well, can you tell me where the library is at, asshole?"

They WILL be #1 next year.

At least in the beginning. However, I'm hearing tonight that half of your secondary is turning pro early.

Houston needs a new coach AND a new quarteback.

Houston is obviously getting a new coach, seeing as how Dom Capers has been fired.

The quarterback isn't the problem; the lack of an offensive line is. Carr threw for 295 yards against Jacksonville in the second to last game even with that abysmal offensive line. They allowed him to call most of the plays in another game and it was one of Houston's two wins. I got to attene several of the games in the '05 season and attended all of them in the first two seasons. (I'm a season ticket holder from the beginning.)

Carr is a decent quarterback. He needs a LINE and a competent coaching staff.

Texans for Bush !! More Bush !....What were we talking about again ?;O)

You is baaaaaad. LOL

You know, George and Bar attend a lot of the games. I think they'd did having a guy named Bush being one of the team's stars. ;-)

Hi, HC!

While Bush is the best running back around, it is the only position Houston has decent players. Not great but OK. I suspect Houston would have traded down for three or four extra spots in the first two rounds.

Domanick Davis would make great trade bait, though, no? And we can keep Wells as a backup.

I'm going to get Dan Reeves on the phone. ;-)

it doesn't matter.

all of the backups played pretty much consistently all season due to injuries, so the losses aren't that great so long as Youbouty doesn't declare.

but everyone expects him too.

Believe me, OHio State can reload on defense easily. It's the offense that never seems to reload quickly.

Booty and Sanchez are going to be competing for the starting position in spring practice. Whoever gets the job will be behind an awesome O line. The other question mark is who will be in the backfield after Bush and White leave.

yes I made some money over there.

Oooooh, is that a bad thing? A big, evil sin?

Do we have another contractor-basher among us?

Come on over to the Dark Side, with us contractors, RVN. It's really not so bad. {evil cackle....}

Yep....

but apprarently it's personal for Mr. RVN here.

from what I have heard, he even attempted to post a thread to "expose" me.

You should read the FReepmails he sent me too.

They are HILARIOUS.

yep.

that hurts a bit, because he was easily their best secondary player. but he's ready for the NFL I think.

Whitner is confusing, he isn't ready, only played consistently for one year in college, and could use some more time as a safety.

Still and all, college football is cyclical. a lot of the backups played last year, and I want to see Jamarrio O'Neal play in the defensive backfield. The guy is a freshman but already looks physically mature enough to be a senior or in the NFL. Should be fun to watch.
