Beamer and others will discuss Marcus Vick's situation more today
Virginia Tech quarterback Marcus Vick was kicked off the team yesterday after yet another legal problem for him surfaced.
Tech President Charles Steger said in a news release that Vick "has been permanently dismissed from the Hokie football program due to a cumulative effect of legal infractions and unsportsmanlike play."

Marcus's poor play in the ACC Championship game had already cost the program more money than they stood to make by winning the Gator Bowl.
I have a feeling that the real money at risk wasn't the bowl money, but the money the wealthy Vick brothers had yet to lavish on their alma mater. Tech has seen the last dime of that, I'm sure.
Study? The whole VaTech phenomenon started with the theft of Michael Vick from Syracuse where Mike was to carry on where Donovan McNabb left off. "Something" happened to redirect Mike to the theretofore unknown Hokies. As Ozymandias teaches us, dynasties fade. Buh-bye Syracuse and VaTech. Besides Marcus' eligibility was almost used up anyway.
When I was playing in college (even at USC), this was the expected outcome of misbehavior. I am glad that they booted him off the team. However, in this day and age it is a little surprising. He reminds me a lot of Allen Iverson, as his (Iverson's) aunt (my admin when I worked at Newport News Shipbldg) once told me, "he's a self absorbed, arrogant little brat who will do anything to have his own way. He embarasses me."
due to a cumulative effect of legal infractions and unsportsmanlike play."
I figure he could play for the Eagles.
Can I ask what his academic record was at the college?
Well maybe thats too hard. Can I ask what his grades were in High School that got him into college?
Wasn't Christian Leitner caught on tape stomping on an opponent during a basketball game, all those years ago?
But that was the whole issue. At Syracuse he could be the next Donovan McNabb. At Tech he could be the next Michael Vick.
How do you figure? Who on the Eagles behaves like that? And what makes you think the Eagles or their fans would put up with it? The best wide receiver in football was just shown the door for running his mouth.
Student! Hahaha! That's a dubious title. Half of these "scholar-athletes" couldn't spell their own name. Collegiate sports has become a disgrace, rivaled only by professional sports. Thugs and criminals given full-ride scholarships and VIP treatment to universities because they can catch a ball.
And people wonder why I spend my weekends watching the History Channel.
Not sure if the dynasty will fade away. Remember VT winning the ACC last year with Bryan Randall at QB. Marcus wasn't even on the team.
In the end, he did not take advantage of his second chance. Another legal problem, on top of acting like a punk in the Louisville and WVU games was just too much to allow.
Time to move on for the Hokies.
You mean he could have lost the big game to FSU too?
You can thank Latrell for that level of activity for carte blanche.
I think using words like "dynasty" and "phenomenon" in the same sentence as VA Tech should imply that they have won something more than their conference...
Another Claret screwup
Now, he can go play for the Raiders.
Unfortunately, that's not just the case at "big time" athletic schools, like USC...
I went to a college that was NCAA Division III, and one of my roommates was on the lacrosse team. He had the same attitude, and he was sure that if he got in trouble, "the coach would get me out of it!"
I guess he was treated special all his life because he was an athlete, and just felt that was how it was supposed to be: That he didn't have to follow the rules.

Gee, and what will happen to "the greatest football player that ever lived?"
};^P
Did you watch that game? It was Free Shoes University vs. The Michael Vick. For all the reasons Tech lost that game--and remember, they took a lead into the 4th quarter--Michael Vick wasn't among them. The only better performance by a quarterback in a recent national championship game was Vince Young's.
I agree he should have been kicked off - but all university's do not take the same approach - UVA's Butler took out an Boston College's star DE's knee and deliberately - his punishment .... a 1 game suspension
Let's read the history
Arrested for giving liquor to minors. They could never prove the sex charge. All involved were teenagers including Vick. Big mistake but a mistake made by lots of college students especially in a small town like Blacksburg. Just before everything settles out, he gets busted for speeding with a nickel bag in the car.
The next strike was the finger to the WVU fans. Then he stepped on a DE's leg in a game. Finally, we found out he got busted for 38 in a 25 and a suspended license. He actually had the license but never signed the form to reactivate it.
So far, no real acts of violence like we have seen from football players in Bburg. Druckenmiller raped a woman. Hinton beat up two Pakistanis. In Marcus case, the sex was not forced. The girl actually sought out Marcus. He was just an idiot for not watching his willie.
The dope in the car was out and out disrespect to the program. That's what got him launched for a year.
The real reason we cut Marcus: We have 3 QB's ready to play besides Marcus. All of them are good. All have burned a redshirt. We have to make room.
Nothing personal - just a bit of tweaking for Tech fans while they're down :)
