IF you think your boss is a jerk you are not alone, a survey shows.
A career website asked 520 people about working for arrogant, incompetent or sexist superiors and found 82 per cent said they had.
And torment from the boss from hell forced more than half of them to quit their jobs in search of greener pastures.
Only 8 per cent of those surveyed said they had the gumption to complain directly to their boss, while 21 per cent took it to the tea room, whinging to colleagues, supervisors or unfortunate partners.
The most common attribute that made a boss a jerk was arrogance, followed by being too controlling and always being unpleasant.
Other bosses were considered jerks because they never gave positive feedback, were critical of employees, judgmental, sexist or inflexible.
"Being a jerk of a boss is a personality issue and many people believe that this is something that can't be changed," said LinkMe.com.au manager Tony Mittelmark. "Most people quit because they can't work for a boss who has a horrible nature and no idea of the impact their attitude has on staff morale.
"If bosses expect people to want to work for them, let alone remain loyal to the company, then they need to check their attitude and behaviour at the office."
I do WAY too many things well that really matter for my boss to bust my hump over misplaced punctuation or other mindless and wanton attacks on me personally or on my abilities as she routinely and publicly does. However, since she began that particular witch hunt, I have been proofing HER stuff and regularly find typos which I bring to her attention, albeit with more courtesy and tact than the way she points mine out to me. Also, I keep a copy of hers and of everyone's errors, etc. for my own record. Anyway, that's how it is when you work for a gaping rectum, never mind common jerk.... and she's that too. NO people skills whatsoever. Also, and this is the worst of it, co workers see how she humiliates and harasses me and behave to me in the identical way. She has, by her behavior, sanctioned and set the tone for a perfectly horrid work environment. She is a Liberal. Ugly.
I'm constantly amazed that such people reach the heights of management. How the hell do they do it?
