~The Dragon Flies' Lair~Poetry Thread XXIV~
January 2, 2006 | bentfeather/Poets of the Lair

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

From my early childhood on, I've always been impressed by their grace and beauty and the way they would just touch the water, to either drink or snap up a small insect.

Their four wings really knocked me out. :):)

The variety of Dragonflys are astounding and we have some beautiful specimens here in Oregon ~ I'd better do some field research this Spring and Summer. :):)

The stages of their lives is astounding. They look almost like a cricket at one stage. They live only for 24 hours, that is my understanding. Elusive creatures.

Fun for you word smiths!

There is a common english word (9 letters long), each time you remove a letter from it, its still an english word. (from 9 letters to ONE letter)

What is the original word, and what are the the words that it becomes after the removal of each letter?

I think 'somewhere' in all my stuff I have a magazine article on building RC airplanes that have the four spread out wings and look just like a huge dragonfly. If I ever find it, I may build some for fun!

Unc keeps pinging me to this place. Better check it out in case he quizzes me on it later. What's with all these things flying around here? Shoo! Shoo! OH, wait a minute. They must be those dragonflies Bentfeather adores so much. Guess I'd better let them be in case she's flying around on one of them again. Hmm. Let's see. Think I'd better run thru these posts for a bit and get my bearings. Wonder if they've got donuts over here.

You should be more submissive, then you wouldn't be so stressed out all the time. Oh, and take your vitamins and geritol. And, please, don't eat the dragonflies...

I really would like to see
The inside of a symphony.
As every fluted note fades
choking color, feeding shades.

Look! As sound is secreted
It's counterpart is greeted.
In the blend, curiously mixed,
The harmony is rightly fixed,

And the world continues turning.

As I have told you several times before, I am diligently working on my submissiveness. Right now, I have more important things on my mind. Do you know where Bentfeather keeps the fish? Where's Tomkow? He always had some fish for Peli. These dragonflies might make some good bait. Got your fishing pole handy Unc?

All right now. Don't be upsetting the hostess. You are a guest remember. We have had that talk before. Act RIGHT. This is FR and there are rules of etiquette, not rules of etidragonfly.

And are you a ungainly, ill-mannered old bird with a strong interest in things of a maritime and piscatory nature?

Wow! Have we met? You're right on target! btw...do YOU have any fish for ol' Peli?
