~The Dragon Flies' Lair~Poetry Thread XXIV~
January 2, 2006 | bentfeather/Poets of the Lair

My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

The Child of Glenn Gaul Way??

You poem began with me thinking it was Our Lord-I don't know why.

Well, I can say those thoughts did cross my mind. Strange because one is fantasy and the other a real person.

"My Lady true took the babe from the old man's charge.
She nurtured him all his days"This part reminded me of the Blessed Mother.

O Blessed Mother,
Help of Christians,
Mother of Consolation,
be thou my mother today,
and let me hide myself in your mantle.

O Holy Mother,
Comforter of the afflicted,
Mother of sorrows,
be thou my mother today,
let me cry myself to sleep in your lap.

O Full of Grace,
Refuge of sinners,
Mother of Good Counsel,
be thou my mother today,
guide me in the way your son would have me go,
now and forever.

Amen.

Thought of the Day

Booker T. Washington said, "Success is to be
measured not so much by the position that one
has reached in life as by the obstacles which
he has overcome while trying to succeed."

Today is Wednesday, Feb. 8, the 39th day of 2006 with 326 to
follow. The moon is waxing. The morning stars are Neptune,
Jupiter, Pluto and Venus. The evening stars are Mars, Saturn,
Uranus and Mercury

Three Sides to the Story

Bold the Knight with heart so true,
in the eyes of the Lady so bright blue.
Valiant his deeds done so manly bold,
with a calm glance bordering on the cold.

Raised in honor for the Lady fair,
he served her always with loving care.
And she trusted him in confidences untold,
an never was a secret between them ever sold.

A Wizard watched them both and smiled as life paced,
knowing all that unseen below the surface raced.
Two halves of a single whole, a tale none but he knew,
watching the Knight and Lady and all they might yet do.

Thank You so much! Glenn Gaul is a kindom I created, now the many characters are taking form and coming to life. I love this land-it allows me to be Queen or My Lady if I choose to be.

This past year, in Washington DC, I read, In The Land of Glenn Gaul Way to 50 poets and a few judges. I won 3rd prize.

Wayzata Johnn

Bold Knight, Sir John of the Den
secreted deep in the fen
held a yen for My Lady Fair
of the yellow Golden hair
eyes of deepest blue with flecks
of gray hidden deep in the iris bay.

On his breast coat he wore a lock
of her gold, and pressed close to his heart
never more would they part.
A great love they owned between
the hellish wars on the under seen
My Lady growing weary from fright
she beloved knight would not return
from the battles in other lands.

The Castle Banner of Blue and Gold
waved high from the turret tower
and My Lady often paced along the wall full of prayerful thoughts.

My Lord be safe, I pray of thee
come home to me and ne'er roam from here
This child has come to us to raise
My Lord he needs a steady hand, a stout man
with velvet eyes, a million stars in his gaze
a thunderous laughter under his belt
the temper of a dragon when in the stout

The Wizard foretold of a child out there
one with deepest blackest hair, and eyes of brown
hard strong hands, and the mark of the dragonfly on his loin.
The wonder of this child so grand
My Lord he came to us from the wood
why this child be out there along
in rags, with out the nails on his feet??

The story yet will unfold of glorious days
in the glenn, the child, My Lady and he man,
His Majesty of Glenn Gaul Way.

I know nothing about poetry. I sometimes get sketchy thoughts that I write down. It usually reads kind of choppy, but to me it's how my thoughts proceed.

Here's an example:

The cave,No light, black, cold. stumbling, falling, pain. Afraid.

Lost, confused, Time unknown, Helpless, Dieing.

Regrets, Plans made, never claimed. Love never shown, Apologies never said, Sobbing.

Desperately praying, Humblely seeking, God. A light, a call. Joy unspeakable Flooding my soul. Saved!

When I was younger I liked to memorize some of the sing-song type poems, but now it doesn't seem to convey what I'm feeling.

I'm open to constructive criticism, and direction on how to refine this kind of poetry.

Hello and Welcome to the Lair.

Sorry I missed you early this morning, I logged off after my little blooper post.

You mentioned the little sing songs lines you did as a child. Well, that is kinda of the way things start for poets.

I see nothing wrong with your structure.

I never critique poetry.

I would suggest to continue to capture these lines on paper. It will come to you how to shape them. One becomes a poet by living and experiencing life. To me your little poems are abstract --I both think and write abstract.
